As things stand, Microsoft almost always releases an OS that is buggy and needs fixes, it might be better to wait a year or two for major issues to be resolved, like their updated privacy policy and forced mandatory automatic updates. The real question is do you need DX12? If not then wait (1-2 years) or don't migrate.
If you can't wait, i'd say swap hard drives and use a new clean hard drive for Windows 10, and if it fails or has huge issues for you just swap the drive back and your system restores to normal (Backups isn't necessarily easy or quick to do or restore so swapping drives seems safer) or better yet, use a separate computer (spare laptop or a computer that needs a new install anyways, etc)
