I would like to second JMitch's request of storing all the data about changes that occur to the games:

avatar
mrkgnao: Unless someone objects I will stop noting rating changes and only report more salient changes (such as file size, patch, price, etc. changes).
May I suggest keeping everything on the MaGOG site though, and maybe contact Eli to see if it would be possible to integrate said data to the GOGWiki automatically?

mrkgnao: I am indeed keeping all the logs on the server (for posterity, I guess), at least while I have the HD space (it amounts to more than 2MB a day and expected to grow).
That's great news, thanks!
I hope you can get a lot of HD space then, and maybe one day implement a useful way of showing that info on MaGog :)
Thanks for creating MaGog and keep up the good work.. :)

One feature that came in mind is, how about adding some kind of flag for widescreen availability.
This data probably should be imported somehow from WSGF GOG-list or linked since this information isn't available in gamecards. People do seem to be looking for widescreen-patches/info in game-specific forum areas.

At the moment I have 20GB for all my websites, half of which is empty, so we're pretty good.
I will add your suggestion to my to-do list, but at the moment I consider it low priority.

That's a good suggestion. I wasn't aware of this website. Will add it to my to-do list (medium priority).

Great!
It could also be interesting to show what was the lowest price a game has ever reached on Gog.

Yes. I thought about that too.
However, there is an inherent problem since MaGog's database is updated only twice a day and therefore it misses almost all promos that are shorter than 24 hours (e.g. insomnia and flash sales). I will attempt to find a method to circumvent this limitation, hopefully before the winter sale.

ANNOUNCEMENT:
Version 2.0.0 has been released with the following features:
* Added the ability to attach your own data (user-defined tags, date, stars, price) to each game and then filter by, sort by and display that data [suggested by phaolo]
* Added tutorials for versions 1.x.x and 2.x.x in a new tutorial page

phaolo: Wait, you're the same dude of aN-ovel I see. Writer and coder? (ninja'd on this)

Anyway, is it somehow possible to exclude unwanted \ owned titles from Magog?
Thank you for your suggestion. It has been implemented and is now online.

Wow! I'll immediately go and check it! :D
Some of the things you can do with the new MaGog:

My games sorted by descending purchase date (not unlike GOG's "My Games") [WARNING! LONG!]:

My wishlist sorted by ascending current price (quite unlike GOG's "Wishlist", I believe):

The games I bought during the Summer Sale sorted by ascending purchase date:

Games I bought on my birthday :-):

mrkgnao: ANNOUNCEMENT:
Version 2.0.0 has been released with the following features:[..]
Tutorial is clear and funny to read (a bit imperative sometimes lol) and the new customizations are great and easy to use. Also, the local data trick is quite interesting.
Great job again!

I only have these comments and questions:
- if I switch browser's tabs while editing (ex: for reading the tutorial), Magog accepts the changes without me pushing Enter. Is that normal?
- how can we backup our data? (local file somewhere?)
- err.. in the future will be possible to batch-export info? Example: copy owned+wishlisted list on on GOG -> paste to a Magog template on Excel -> clean+add info -> somehow export to Magog (maybe directly in our local file?)

phaolo: I only have these comments and questions:

Yes. Enter is just one way of ending edit and saving. Any straying away from the edit box will do the same.
Hardcore...
P.S. Different browsers may behave differently here.

avatar
phaolo: - how can we backup our data? (local file somewhere?)
It depends on your browser.
"In Firefox the DOM storage data is stored in the webappsstore.sqlite file in the profile folder".
I will collect information about other browsers and add to the tutorial.

I plan to support export/import for backup and migration (to other computer/browser).
I do not plan to allow external edit. It's simply too easy to break things that way and there is just so much effort I can devote to error checking.
ANNOUNCEMENT:
Version 2.0.2 has been released with the following features:
* Added behind-the-scenes support for newly-removed GOG games (the four Bohemia games are the first to be removed since MaGog launched)
* Added support for people using a decimal comma instead of a decimal point (only for input; display still uses only the decimal point)
* Added a technical addendum to the tutorial page about the location of the local storage in different browsers [suggested by phaolo]

So many updates, thank you man!
And yes, a Magog import\export function will be perfect, so we don't end up restoring old info for every other site.
I tried the export function on FF19, but I got a PE_ui_uz.part file instead of a myfields_DATE.magog lol
Should I try the import? (I already added info for 100 games..)

Also, can you please:
- add an option to rename the custom tags?
- make the search page remember last used filters?

Why are you using FF26 rather than the current FF30?

I will PM you my email address. Email me the file and I will look at it and tell you whether it's OK.

I already plan to do it. Probably in the upcoming week or so.

At the moment I consider this low-priority. It's a lot of work.
