Hi this is my first time using GoG. I just tried to download Mafia and Windows Defender just flagged Trojan Virus and blocked my download!

mafia (part 1 of 2) 1.3 1MB < this one was was blocked (

mafia (part 2 of 2 ) 1.3 2.4GB < this one downloaded

Any ideas whats going on here, I'm I good to download?
It would be hilarious if it's blocking on the name Mafia. It was a recent malware scare a few months ago.

Did it give you a specific name of a virus when you tried? Should be fine but I was one of the folks who got a corrupted windows cd a few years ago.

Trojan:Win32/Fuerboos.B!cI
edit: I'm leaning towards a false positive.

I'd hold off until we're sure. It appears to be a recent concern:

It's not been labeled as a virus, just something that's setting things off on their end. A couple of examples:

https://forum.maplelegends.com/index.php?threads/trojan-win32-fuerboos-c-cl.17180/

Looks like it's being reported elsewhere in a couple of different places as a false positive.

You can hold off if it;s a concern but you can also make an exception here:

https://forum.maplelegends.com/index.php?threads/how-to-make-an-exception-with-windows-defender-microsoft-security-essential.6688/

Just a fyi please make sure you manually update your virus signatures. Some times they don't autoupdate like they're supposed to.

Alright, thanks!
I'm getting a very Soviet Russia vibe from that thread title.
Anyone else getting this?
Same happening over here.

I've just updated W Defender threat definitions.

Is this confirmed to be false positive?
WIndows Defender in all honesty is probably about as accurate as throwing a handful of darts.

(This is what makes a feature of ClamTK so neat, in that you can submit a file to see how it pairs up in the databases. As in, not just one or two.)
Norton's Antivirus does not like the Mafia Game.EXE file ether. Had to bring it out of guarantine.
I never had this problem with the Steam version. GOG messed up here.

Norton doesn't like anything. I once had it flag it's own update.
Are people still using Norton? O.o
Maybe it's because the game was released very recently on GOG and not many users with that antivirus have already installed it? Recently we bought and downloaded a new software at work and, because it was so new, the antivirus put it on preventive quarantine because the executable hadn't been added yet to the trustworthy files database. A few hours later, we receive an antivirus notification saying the file had been identified as safe.

If so, then it's a matter of time.

Considering my experiences with it, I wouldn't be surprised if this was true.

It was. I think.
It updated and immediately I got a "Suspicious Activity" or something warning. I didn't check to see exactly what it was, just clicked ignore, but downloading that update was the only thing I was doing. I wasn't surfing or running any other programs.
