Update: All D1 daybreak PMs are out. Every player should've received one with their name as a starting tag.

Each is custom, so unlike the original VT PM which was boilerplate (and posted) here they are very different, with jokes about your player name, or inside jokes between the two of us, etc.

You can talk about points of your PM if you have a reason to do so, but I strongly discourage asking players for their PM info as a way to get role or alignment info. Like the lottery they are primarily for entertainment purposes, not a sound investment strategy.

Because my writing is fairly distinctive copy/paste of anything I send is strictly prohibited. See rule #13 above.

D1 will likely open in about 90 minutes.

D1 Daybreak: Part 1

The sun rises on another absolutely smurfy day in Smurf Village, and smurfs start slowly appearing from their mushroom homes, which particularly in the morning seem to strain skyward, proud and upright.

Wonderful aromas permeate the autumn air - Culinary Smurf has likely outdone himself again: French toast with smurfberry compote; omelets with fresh herbs, artisan cat's milk cheese, and wild truffles; hash browned yalaylos, and some manner of bacon. All in all a smurftastic feast, yet again!

After some time, the group slowly notices their numbers seem diminished - just two and a half handfuls. Who could be missing?

The group mulls for a bit...who?...who? Then it dawns on them all at once - PlotDevice is not here.

"Perhaps he's just smurfed at us about last night?" asks one. "Or being a complete drama smurf?" suggests another. Nonetheless, the group decides that, as soon as they have all fully enjoyed the repast, they will seek him out if he has not made an appearance by then. No rush, really. Surely he's fine.

But an hour later, as the feast winds down, he still has not appeared. The groups gathers itself and prepares to leave the long-table to seek out PlotDevice at his house or wherever he may have gotten off to.

"Ok guys, is no one seriously going to help with clean up and dishes?" objects the cook. "I was up all night cleaning up from last night's meal, gathering and cooking for you all, and no one will raise a hand to help so I can go nap?"

Everyone just kind of shrugs, and moves off. "Godsmurfit, if someone isn't killing those ingrates, I'm going to start doing it myself," grumbles the cook. Town cook, of course.

D1 Daybreak: Part 2

The group arrives at PlotDevice's hut, and immediately it's clear something terrible has occurred!

The door is wide open, and it's obvious both that PlotDevice is not at home, and that someone or someones have ransacked the house. The group splits into teams to search in and around the house, and across the clearing. Nothing!

Well, at least very little. One smurf found a photo album, and in it very smurfy baby photos of little PlotDevice.

Another of the searchers did find a single piece of smurfment, with what appears to be...a code on it:

The group stares at it, not quite sure what to make of it. "A-ha!" one exclaims, I've seen that before! "Where? What does it mean?" the group presses.

"I'm pretty sure that's what Papa Smurf had tattooed ...errr, on him!" Several discrete mumbles of assent seem to assert that assessment of the association.

Another steps up to take charge. "Look smurfs, I think we have to face it. PlotDevice was right - there is something smurfy going on, and it's up to us to solve it and save the village."

"How do we do that?" asks one of the assembled smurfs?

"Well, I think we talk amongst ourselves for a bit, and then decide which one of you we smurf into the Smurfmatic Smurfmotabulator."
"Which one of us, you mean?"
"Exactly, which one of you."
"What happens to a smurf smurfed into the Smurfmatic Smurfolator?"
"Oh, that's a whole different device - this is the Smurfmatic Smurfmotabulator. And truth be told I don't know. But Papa Smurf told me once that it was only for dire emergencies, and this certainly seems to fit the bill."

So smurfs, the task for the 10 of you is to agree on a smurf, or perhaps no smurf, to smurf into the Smurfmatic Smurfmotabulator by day's end.

Day 1 begins now! Thread is open!

Majority vote to lynch - with 10 players maj=6. Lynch occurs whenever maj is reached.

Current: 10 players not voting.

Deadline is subject to change (refer to my prior game or ask other players for what that probably means) but is currently set for 2PM [edit] Pacific on Thur Nov 17.

Mod side-note: I anticipate getting 2 game days in before the holiday and then taking a long N2 spanning 11/23-11/26, as I presume a number of players will have heavy family/travel obligations, as will I.

My first thought on this was "2 game days until Christmas? Are we back to 2012 lengths?" but then I recalled that some of you have Thanksgiving coming.
