Hello! this is my first post on this site so, sorry if this type of post belongs somewhere else. Thing is, ive been looking for a strategy game with some specific stuff and im not sure if what i want has even been made yet! Ok so heres what im looking for...

I want a space empire type game, where you can go to planets and build colonies, yet if that planet already has an intelligent species living on it, it becomes a Real time Civ hybrid type game where you can either befriend them or take em out command and conquer style. It has to have space battles, asteroid mining, planet busting fun. Also... I guess a "Moral" type of system where colonies you placed can rebel and create their own subfaction against you If you arn't leading them well, or they just dont agree with choices you made. Does anyone know if something like this exists?

I am not 100% sure we have THAT exact game on our site BUT Distant Worlds has the following:

1. Space battles
2. Research where you can steal another race's tech with your spies and then use it!
3. Asteroid mining and you can even set up tourist locations on black holes.
4. You have to capture, repair, and research a planet destroyer.
5. I don't know about subfactions but colonies can rebel AND they can become pirate havens if you don't root out the pirates in time.
6. You can incorporate native species into your empire by either finding a dormant colony ship or conquering an independent planet. You can also enslave the native population if you so desire.

I really want this game on GOG, in case you didn't know :D

First off, welcome to GOG!
I haven't played this type of game, but I hear good things about Master of Orion, Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, and Homeworld. Can anyone comment further?
Lol, i was checking that Distant Worlds on Steam and the price is 55€ for a game with 5 years... That reminded me of another game in the same situation, Close Combat: Gateway, what do they also have in common? Same publisher...

As for the op question, dunno, the only thing that the half-rts/half-anything-else that comes into mind is Space Rangers HD but it doesn't have anything to do with 4x.

MOO doesn't tend to have indigenous life AFAIK nor does it have planetary battles.

Alpha Centauri has you play on one planet and one planet only :)
Maybe Fragile Allegiance?
Galactic Civilizations might be good. I own it but only played #2 and while not my favorite game ever it does meet the OPs conditions.

You’re right, but it is such a great game that it deserves to be suggested in each and every "looking for a game" thread, whatever kind of game the OP is really looking for ;)

Hey, that’s the first game I bought on GOG, despite having already bought it not long after its release.

Well, wouldn't it be better to get it and its expansions drm-free directly from the publisher? ;)

Yes, being Matrix Games, it's bloody expensive. That said, they have weekly sales on individual titles and a Christmas sale that covers most of their catalogue, so I suggest you check up their website regularly. ;)

Lol, not used to publishers selling their own games on their website but to be honest i'm just curious with Distant Worlds, i would be more interested in CC Gateway to Caen but i'm assuming their promotions are the same as Steam so... eh... no.
Probably the content and quality are good to warrant the price but i'm not paying those prices considering that i can get other good games cheaper and way more recent....
Maybe you'd like Aurora 4x.

It's free, but it plays like MS Access in Space.
I should add "Salvation Prophecy" though, it doesn´t have RTS in it as far as I know, though.
Obligatory mention of STARS!

It's hard to find and even harder to get working on newer computers but I refuse to give up hope. :D
