I truly appreciate this thread and have redeemed numerous FREE games because of the posts here. Thank you!

However, if one must buy something else in order to obtain a game at no additional cost, then it cannot be considered "free."

This is an old complaint I already voiced about this thread, tbh. "Free with a fee" isn't really free.

I'm also in agreement on this, especially when it is just a DLC item. Otherwise all those free unrated patches need to be listed as free.

Well to list out all the free DLCs was considered at one point in time, but the free DLCs even back then, were too numerous to keep track of and actually the original intent was only to keep track of free game giveaways. There was a request to track DLCs that were given as part of promotion, and as I figured, no harm since its time limited, won't be too difficult to keep track of. The free DLCs that are listed now, to be honest, I'm not sure if any or how many of them reverts to being a paid DLC and its difficult to track those.

Crusader Kings II is free on GOG now (+ Songs of Yuletide and South Indian Portraits 5 Year Anniversary Gift DLCs).

This might be permanently free, as per Steam :) So go go go!
