Hey guys!

I would like to ask if there´s a way to get a legal version of Legacy of Kain: Blood omen (not the sequel BO 2),,

will it be available at GOG?

Thnx!

I believe that there are legal issues between Crystal Dynamics and Silicon Knights preventing it from being re-released. Strangely the Playstation port is available for purchase on PSN.

That's because Sony had a hand in releasing the game on the PSX, whereas the PC port is a complete legal mess between Activision, Crystal Dynamics/Eidos/Square-Enix and the extinct Silicon Knights...

I find it very improbable that BO: LoK will ever be released on PC via digital distribution, to be honest.

It is most likely because Silicon Knights took Crystal Dynamics to court over the game.

Sorry, a 2nd hand copy and dosbox might be the only way to play it again on a modern os. There are many games such as LOK:BO that are stuck in legal limbo unfortunately.

Silicon Knights took literally every one they worked with to court (except for Nintendo, even though Denis Dyack terminated their relationship when they released the Wii because he didn't like the console, then sold their asses to Microsoft and their career started plunging horribly into the painful death they had some years back).

It's not even funny, SK ended because of that absurd Epic Games lawsuit that they lost, after Denis Dyack's project baby of decades, Too Human -- made using Epic's Unreal Engine--, turned out to be a commercial flop and not that good to begin with, gameplay-wise. Dyack thought Epic would be a good scapegoat for his own mistakes and shortcomings, and blamed Unreal for the game's shortcomings.

Please, there's a whole NeoGAF post-mortem of Silicon Knights that I urge everyone remotely interested in all this to read.

Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain isn't a DOS game.

I am fully aware of Silicon Knights and their unending legal battles. The Too Human "for or against" thread was classic.

Grargar: Blood Omen: Legacy of Kain isn't a DOSBox game.
Some people have ran it in dosbox, even though it is a windows 95 game. Also there are ways to run it, but the fixes seem to be only for xp and vista.

I am running it on Win7 with an installer someone sent me a link to here. I don't know if that's the same one but I might still have the link bookmarked. I'll go look.
Was only really making the point that used copies are the only way to play many of these games that are stuck in legal limbo. I've fought to get different games working on Windows 7 64Bit and have only hit a few issues that I haven't been able to fix... then again I don't think that I ran into anything really tough either though.

Someone should actually start a thread with fixes to get some of these older games running on a more modern os.
aw man, how good would it to finally play this game again. I bet this game would sell shit loads. Such a wasted opportunity.
