Every second game includes more languages (or other in few cases) as I can read in the description.
I've always thought that GOG checked each game in detail before it is sold?! Why they don't check the languages in that same routine? Thanks!

For example "To the Moon" (https://www.gog.com/game/to_the_moon)
Game description: Audio und Text: English, español, français, polski, português
And inside the game I found: 11 different languages (incl. German, Russian, Turkish,...), but text only, no Audio

Lebostein: ...
My unfounded suspicion is this: Publishers have agreements with particular regions (Germany, for example) that prevent GOG from selling versions with a particular language. However, the should-be-excluded language is sometimes available as part of the standard download, anyway. So the customer gets what they want, and nobody fusses as GOG isn't officially offering that language, it's just part of the publisher-provided files by default. But if GOG were to start explicitly listing German as an available language, GOG or the publisher could be in violation of regional agreements. So they keep quiet.

I made all this up.

@grimwerk: PLEASE, read my post again before you answer. I asked for the language DESCRIPTION of the existing languages in gog games!

I'm guessing that they just use the list of languages that the publisher provides. I'm just too lazy to check to see if the list matches games in other shops. Sometimes publishers do things like that to protect the other shops.

Sorry, I misunderstood you. I thought you were asking about the discrepancy between advertised languages and the languages actually included in the game, and so I offered a possible explanation for that. I'll read more carefully in future.

Probably yes. The theory is much too complicated. I guess that GOG is simply not very careful in this regard and maybe also some games get languages added with patches and GOG does not know about them because they do not recheck every time.

Why I'm thinking this. I remember the time when GOG had only English only games. They didn't even indicate or include any languages besides English at the beginning. Already at this time some games might have had more languages available inside.

In that case they might as well leave this information out from the gamecard if it is so faulty anyway.

A simple: "Language: Yes" would be absolutely sufficient. :)

Ha. I agree.

But "GOG is sloppy" begins to get old, and I am forced to imagine new and exciting reasons.

Actually, I remember an old blue post saying something along those lines. Some users found out they could activate the translation of a game by messing with an .ini register, Gog replied that they didn't know about that, and since their distribution rights were limited exclusively to the English version, they couldn't list the extra languages in the store page anyway.
Does To the moon even have any spoken lines?

Thanks for pointing that out! ;)

I've just downloaded the game and I don't see those 11 different languages. Could you please let me know where I can find them. Thank you!

If you start the game with Galaxy, then you see a language choose box after starting.
If you start the game via app or exe, then the game starts with english only.

There must be a hidden command line option, I don't know,,,
