Martek: I might look at dl'ing the youtube.
When using youtube-dl, make sure to specify the best codec and quality (VP9 for example).

Used a different thing and got it as an MP4 as follows:

Video Resolution 1280 x 720
Aspect ratio 1.7778
Format H264
Bitrate 1902 kbps
Frames per second 25.000
Selected codec ffh264

I'd rather purchase it and support them, but I've still to check out the "it's a flash player but you can download and play in anything" and make sure that's the case. If it is then I'm in :)

VP9 + Opus are the best free codec combinations.

From non-free ones, it should be H.265 + AAC. If you need the later, here is how I would get it. Note it doesn't show whether it's H.265 or H.264 but the biggest resolution has only one option anyway. Downloading it (pairing it with the best audio from the list above):

youtube-dl -f 137+141 'https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bS5P_LAqiVg'

I checked the result - it's H.264. File is around 804+MB (1920 x 1080).

In comparison, downloading VP9+Opus:

youtube-dl -f 248+251 'https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bS5P_LAqiVg'

Result is 453MB (1920 x 1080). VP9 is surely much better than H.264 space wise. H.265 could have been comparable, but for this upload it's missing for some reason.

To explain why you need to specify audio and video separately. Youtube uses DASH for high resolutions, so video and audio streams are separated and not coming from one file. In essence youtube-dl downloads both audio and video streams and then merges them preserving their codecs.

Looks like your tool was able to pull in the legacy video stream (without DASH), which comes as one file, but on Youtube it's limited to 1280 x 720 only.

Exoanthrope: I just finished it. It hacked too much time and was more 80's than the 80's, and was a blast to watch. It had some laugh-out-loud moments, and was like, totally rad, dude. I would have loved a feature length version.
Me too. Hopefully they'll be able to do something longer in the future.

I thought it was awesome, although it I'm perfectly honest with myself, I think the original trailer was better.
Finished it, and agreed with the others posting here - I enjoyed it a lot.

I read on reddit that the two German guys insulting each other are actually two super famous Swedish comedians. I thought their part was great.
I just checked and have to correct what I wrote above. It's not downloadable from vhx.tv! So use Youtube to get it. I'll write them and ask to release it on GOG. Since they charge $5 for vhx.tv release, they can as well do it for GOG but at least it would be officially DRM-free here. This actually makes the point of releasing it on GOG stronger.

I could believe they were professional actors. They were a lot more polished in their delivery.

I think that whole part was my favorite scene in the movie. Just because of "Where did the tank go?"

The first 5 minutes were also glorious :)

By the way, I asked them to release it on GOG here (in the comments): https://www.vhx.tv/kungfury/updates/kung-fury-live-stream-kungfurypremiere

Feel free to add your comments too.

I do wonder when is gog.com going to host Kung Fury for watching?

Steam already does that: http://store.steampowered.com/app/374570?snr=1_41_4__42

Also the Kung Fury Street Rage game would be nice too :)

Kung Fury needs to be in GOG.
Give me the Good Old vibe.

EDIT: Please tell me there's gonna be a sequel. Hitler needs to be hammered AGAIN. =p

I just watched it on the lunch break at work. Awesome. And yeah, the Swedish with a couple German(-ish?) and English words mixed in was perfect for the "Germans" arguing about whose moustache was the most Aryan.

"This item is currently unavailable in your region". Right, it's a Swedish movie, of course it's not available in Sweden from either Steam or Youtube. In fact, the only place I know of where it's available here is from SVT's site (state television) (the description on Youtube links there, and I didn't investigate further), which requires flash, so I'm a bit annoyed at that.

EDIT: Also, due to the fact that we, the country-of-origin, cannot watch it from Youtube or Steam makes me guess I won't be able to get it from GOG either.

I've been playing the Kung Fury Street Rage game and it is actually incredibly fun. It really feels like playing an 80's arcade machine where the focus is solely squared on improving your dexterity and skill at the game and beating the high score -- no achievements, no savegames, no bullshit. At first I thought it was just a neat promotional gimmick, but it's actually making me fall back in love with skill-based arcade games.

It'd be really great if GOG could land a deal with them and distribute the movie & game together in a $5.99 package or something.

Just watched the official movie on youtube 10/10 :)

Just watched the official music video by David Hasselhoff 10/10 :) Never heard any of his songs before, until now. It's really good and its the perfect fit for the movie :)

Listening to the OST at the moment, and loving it :)

Kung Fury rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This movie needs to be on GOG and OST with game :) This would be instabuy for me and others.

So please GOG, with extra sugar on top :)
I really hope GOG will get this game! The movie was hilarious!
I ponied up a 5-dollar donation and got a 31 minute long romp into something that I can only describe as "indescribable".

You have to see it for yourself, it's quite an homage to 80's and 90's "hacker" flicks and a least they're blatantly honest about their hacking (unlike the young girl in Jurassic Park who claimed to be this Unix hax0r)

If you're a B-movie fan and like things like "Bad Taste" (directed by the same person who directed "Lord of the Rings"), then this movie is for you. If you grew up in the 80's, feeding quarters into video games, this movie is for you too.

It was 'fun'.
