Your GF replaces engines with herself? That sounds like a heavy workload.

Paraphraseing, but it went something like this: I don't care about how it looks as long as it's functional. Sure i care how it looks, but it's not the most important thing. I'll buy the most expensive one that's reasonable, but i care about it's function first and utility first. I'd happily stick it in the corner and cover it over with a box as long as it does it's job. Now if i can get one that does the same job and looks nice, sure i'd get it, but it can be butt-ugly as long as it does it's job...

I think it got her laughing when she pictured living with a paper-bag over her head...

MaximumBunny: There are 2 things GOG never does - add the stuff you vote for on the wishlist to the catalog
Ok so you didn't vote for at least System Shock 2, LucasArts nor Star Trek games?
I wish they do. And btw the site behaves poorly on the last version of IE, forums included. I have spoken to the support and they recommended me using Firefox or Chrome so it's not "the big 3" but rather the big 2 :(. The last Opera handles it a little better than IE, but still not perfect (last versions on Opera are based on Chrome now). We can only hope and vote in the wishlist :(

GOG doesn't add games to the catalog based on wishlist voting. If you all want to go after my induction and miss the point then that's up to you.
I wonder if it's possible to use the Lynx browser to browse GOG.com, that should reduce the complexity somewhat.. probably.

Now the argument changed. This is what you claimed:

"There are 2 things GOG never does - add the stuff you vote for on the wishlist to the catalog..."

That is plainly false, as history shows.

However, your new argument is true: GOG won't (and can't) add new games to their catalog only according to the wishlist. So even when people want Skyrim, Half-life games or Mass Effect Trilogy to GOG, people shouldn't expect it to be only up to GOG. It depends whether the publishers allow them to GOG, or if there are licensing issues with the game, or for older games there may be technical reasons why the game is not brought to GOG.

That's kinda obvious, and I hope no one ever has believed that to be the case, as it would be kinda stupid.

Having said that though, the two most voted game entries in the Community Wishlist have appeared to GOG:

1. Grim Fandango (HD Remastered): 47075 votes

2. System Shock 2: 36044 votes

https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games#order=votes_total

I'm pretty sure if it was up to GOG, Morrowind GOTY, Diablo 1-2, Starcraft etc. would also be in GOG.com.

i guess gog.com is using webkit code too? annoying. feels like all modern websites are catering to chromium/google. what about w3 standards , man?

Randalator: Yeah. Where's System Shock 2 and Lucasarts? Get off your lazy asses, GOG! I will not spend another cent here before you fulfill at least these two most voted for wishes!

tfishell: My thought too. ;)

Darvond: Let's reprogram GOG in HTML 1.0.
avatar
tfishell: Or just make it with Geocities. http://www.wonder-tonic.com/geocitiesizer/content.php?theme=1&music=2&url=gog.com
geocities webdevs were mostly all about eye candy and sparkling gifs. did you travel from an alternative dimension?

rtcvb32: Honestly, i'd rather not have Javascript and just have images and links as appropriate... The javascript could be useful in cases such as, an active timer so you know how long a deal is going on for, but otherwise it seems a lot of the extra javascript fluff could be removed.

But few people would consider my designs as workable, they would be ugly and usable and fast and tiny, while a large portion of people want eye-candy...

...What's an iPhone, sunny? Do you mean a Newton MessagePad?

Sure it is, but I prefer a more modern approach like elinks.

And filling the website (which by the way, its navigation would be with frames) with animated gifs.
This is already supposed to be the newer, fresher, mobile-friendly GOG.com. It seems the staff's idea of trimming the website is to enforce catalogue/account/wishlist pagination.

Even the comment box I'm typing into references http://static04.gog.com/www/default/-js/_min_global.89e4f87d.js which in turn contains code to load tracker scripts from Facebook, Twitter and Google+ (I block these at the browser level).
