Join us in Cologne on Thursday, August 14!

GamesCom Cologne is the biggest European games industry show and we know that many of you will be attending. We'd love to take this chance to meet you! Alas, we think that the middle of a busy trade show is not the best place to hang out with you, dear Goggers. We'd like to meet you in a more friendly venue and spend some time chatting, sharing a few beers, and playing some games in a relaxed atmosphere of a gamer-friendly pub. So, we'd like to heartily invite you to the GOG.com Party that will be taking place on Thursday, August 14, from 5:00PM to 10:00PM local time, in one of the local pubs not far from where the GamesCom main show will be located.

We've got 70 open spots. To reserve yours, contact us at party@gog.com and give us your full name and the GOG.com username (or usernames, if you're bringing a friend) and the time we can expect your arrival. We'll ask you to RSVP before the event, to make sure you didn't change your mind about attending. We'll let you know if you made the main guest list. If you're late to register, we'll get your name on our backup list and contact you if a spot opens on the main one.

We have some cool activities planned for you! You'll be able to play some games in our NVidia-powered GOG arcade. We've got lots of GOG goodies to give away. There'll be prizes to win in contests. Beer and soft drinks will be waiting at the bar for all of our guests! A big chunk of GOG.com Team is going to be there, and we look forward to meeting you all in person. If you know you'll be attending, please also drop a note here in the forums below, so all other Goggers will know they'll get to hang out with you! Also, feel free to make suggestions as to what would you like to see in the GOG.com Party.

This invitation will be updated with new details as we get closer to GamesCom, so make sure to drop by every now and then! Bottom line: party with GOG.com at GamesCom, Thursday, August 14, 5:00PM-10:00PM. Great fun, free beer, GOG goodies for our guests. 70 open spots, reserve yours at party@gog.com.

Sufyan: I am not saying I have checked any airlines specifically, but flying within Europe is dirt cheap so the only distance you should be concerned about is the drive to and from your home and the airport. The whole of central Europe is highly accessible, especially to other European citizens, and Germany is an easy place to visit for any English speaking tourist.

I should know, I'm a bearded sleeper cell agent.
How about the distance from my airport to Europe? :P

Let me clarify that my post was exclusively aimed at people WITHIN Europe. Oh, and drug running Islamists.

We are everywhere.
Everything awesome always happens in Europe, time to move countries I think! :P
This is sad; I love GOG and what you guys do, but there is no way for me to be in Europe. Have fun anyway!
You gotta have a gog party in San Diego or Los Angeles!!

Noviomega: Aw man...
I won´t be attending GamesCom till Saturday 16th... Well have fun at the Party!
Maybe I´ll see some of you guys around at the Convention!

AlbertX: I Feel you I will be at gamescon on Friday and saturday but not on 14th since is press only.

Come on GOG, 14th is not everyone your customers won't be there on 14th :( your loyal fans.
From what I understand their "party" will be held outside of the convention site proper, so you don't even need to be attending to GamesCon that day to go to the GOG event.
Ew, who would want to go to a party, there's like... other people there. I'll just play computer games thanks.

DiscipleJF: No Enigmatic T? :O

BillyMaysFan59: Apparently he's leaving GOG.com.

I hope that's not because of the regional pricing fiasco... Even if God himself descended from Heaven, He wouldn't convince this community that regional pricing is good for us :)

I did understand that part, but since that day is only for the press, there was no point for me to go there that day. So I will be arriving at Cologne on the 15th :(

Going Gamescon has always been something I wanted to do, seems I choose the worst year to do it :(

Isn't press day the 13th? The website says the 14th is open to the public. I was planning to go on that day myself, since the 15th is a holiday, and saturday and sunday are probably gonna be full of people.

I'm still not sure I'm going though, and even if I do, I would be going with a friend who doesn't even know about GOG. I don't know if I can convince him :P

Seconded, even if you were joking.

What terrifies me in this announcement is that 70 people (+ GOG staff) is called a "relaxed" atmosphere.
From my perspective that's almost a whole concert audience, bands included. I guess I'm just not a social person.

Too bad, no way to go there this year, would have been awesome. And a Thursday would have been perfect since it is the "least" crowded day... Hope you will have fun.

Yes the press is Wednesday (13th), Thursday is open to the crowed... if you go, try going Thursday... weekends on Gamescom are horrible... because on Thursday it will be full... but on the weekend it will be too full^^

ChaunceyK: Exit 117 now, but I grew up in Seaside Heights. You?
I'm actually a Long Islander, but Jersey's doable. The northern half would be ideal, but even AC is only a 2-3 hour drive.
Will be at gamescom, so I´ll try to be at that party, too!

He was. But you have the point. Even if I was a year or two longer on GOG, I would hesitate to go. It really sounds fun, but this thing is more for social butterfly types. :) And it's in not too close country. Although, I'm not that soc. awkward and If I was living in DE I would consider it more seriously. :)

But thanx for invite GOG. :)
