So why does the list not include Redneck Rampage? Also, I tweeted Jace Hall and apparently they shouldn't even own the rights to Shogo, WB should.

From what I heard, Interplay only has distribution rights or something for RR, and Activision owns it. Not sure about Shogo though.

Honestly, I think it'd be cool to see a Lionheart reboot.
How many games will we lost if all Interplay titles wanish from the Gog catalog ?

A large handful. More than 10.
avatar
mystral: So much hypocrisy in that press release...

Interplay haven't been "leading" developers or anything else in 15 years, and AFAIK the current president and his crew have never created an actual game.
^^^^ This! Hopefully, a decent company (as opposed to Titus) buys Interplay's assets this time.

Somebody has to buy Sacrifice...
...imagine a HighQualityRemaster of that one. Just imagine!

Here is the full list of 40 game products with Interplay as the Developer or Publisher:
https://www.gog.com/games?devpub=interplay&sort=title&page=1

Some of the products contain multiple games so the individual game count would be slightly higher from that, however some of the games are no longer owned by Interplay such as the Fallout games, so the count would be slightly lower. 40 is a ballpark however.

While it is quite highly likely that the titles would be removed from GOG, Steam and other stores temporarily during the transfer of ownership to new parties, it is also quite likely that many of the games would return back to GOG under new ownership presuming the new owners either already have a relationship with GOG (such as THQ Nordic), or to which GOG would be able to successfully negotiate to bring them back here with new owners by using previous sales data and customer demand in negotiations.

At least I think that's a reasonable scenario, and I use the transfer of Fallout from Interplay to Bethesda as a case in point. Prior to that there were no Bethesda owned games on GOG.com if I recall correctly, but after the IP had time to transfer hands Bethesda and GOG must have been in communication in short order to work towards the eventual partnership to bring some nice surprises here from the Bethesda catalogue including the return of the previous 3 Fallout titles.

There's no guarantee of course either way, but given the choice between presuming the games will never come back without any proof of that, or the games will come back without any proof of that either, the latter seems more hopeful and promising to consider for me at least, and the entire conversation topic is extremely speculative to begin with so there's no reason to assume any doomsday scenarios IMHO.

As ZaineH mentioned above, the sale will be all-or-nothing, meaning that there won't be owners, but just a singular owner. Here's hoping it will be someone friendly to GOG.

By "owners" I wasn't implying there would be more than one company buying the games. The English language can be a strange thing, but nonetheless I agree hopefully it will be a GOG-friendly company, whether an existing partner or a new one that joins up to come to the party. :)

CARRiON.FLOWERS: An official(?) list.
Hmmm, so no Blood Magic, no Frankenstein: Through the Eyes of the Monster, no Heart of the Alien, no Mummy: Tomb of the Pharaoh and no Neuromancer.

As for games that have PC versions and haven't been digitally released yet, this list has:

Agent Armstrong
Battlestorm
The Brainies
Caesar's Palace Slots
Crazy Cars
Crime does not Pay
Fire and Forget
Galactic Conqueror
Knight Force
Lexi-Cross
M1 Tank Platoon
Metal Rage
Off Shore Warrior
Renegade Racers
Titan
Titus the Fox
Virtual Chess

Jagged Alliance 2: Unfinished Business and VR Soccer '96 are also missing from the list.

snowkatt: not too mention that a good chunk of them are licensed titles
hasbro or paramount wil want the video games based on their properties and likely not give a fuck about the rest
If the list above is correct, then Interplay won't be selling any DND games, but will actually be selling the Star Trek ones. Interesting to see what will come of it.

They might have the rights to the Star Trek games they've made, but since they obviously don't have exclusive rights to the Stark Trek IP when it comes to gaming (see Star Trek Online), I doubt they can actually sell those rights without Paramount's agreement.

Or else whoever buys them won't actually be able to call them Star Trek, just like the Dark Alliance Ip can't use the Baldur's Gate name that went with them.

or cbs
the star trek rights are a mess but two studio's now own the right to star trek
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek#Corporate_ownership

In 1989, Gulf+Western renamed itself as Paramount Communications, and in 1994 merged with Viacom.[16] In 2005, Viacom divided into CBS Corporation, whose CBS Television Studios subsidiary retained the Star Trek brand, and Viacom, whose Paramount Pictures subsidiary retained the Star Trek film library and rights to make additional films, along with video distribution rights to the TV series on behalf of CBS

whoever buys them that are not cbs or paramount
they'd most likely have to broker a new deal with them to even be able to sell the games
assuming cbs or paramount dont buy the games outright
Didn't you guys all hear? Licurg is in negotiations to buy all of the Interplay IP with plans to funnel all profits over time into the development of Sacrifice 2. ;)
