I've had Baulder's Gate: Enhanced Edition installed before, but suddenly now it's asking me for what seems like both the impossible and pointless. I try to install the base-game part 1, and selecting English is fallowed by a window titled "Installer needs the next part (.BIN) file".

It then says "Please specify the location of part 1 and click OK.

By default the files should be placed in the same folder as the installer itself. Please click Browse and specify the correct path."

The only content relevant to the game currently should be all the installers in the folder I've downloaded them to, called "GOG Games". Selecting this folder only gives me an error window: "The file could not be located in the installer's folder. Please make sure that the file is in the correct folder, or specify its current location."

What goddamn file in which pit of Hell am I supposed to find and why can't this installer work like all the others, where it just works?

LegoDnD:
Can't say about enhanced edition, but a whole bunch of installers on gog have bin files. Its usually only the smaller installers that do not.

Are you sure you have downloaded the whole thing?

Edit: go and check in your library and see how many parts there are to download. Assuming there is indeed more than one, then the first is the exe file and the rest are bin files.

YES. I very specifically downloaded them in what I (correctly, it seems) believe to be the exact order they need to be installed. Base-game part 1, base-game part 2, patch 1, patch 2, expansion, and extra portraits.

And base-game part 1 is 1 megabyte, by the way.

wait, did you rename them?

that first part is the exe, the second will be the bin file.
I'm just using shortened names for brevity here. But seemingly none of it matters either because the files are supposed to show when I browse for them and they don't, or selecting the correct folder just isn't good enough.

if the exe is in the same folder as the correct bin file it will auto detect it.

how about you screenshot the relevant folder contents so we can clear up any misunderstandings / spot any issues?

Edit: does help if you actually reply to posts as well.

Hold on...for whatever idiot reason, base-game part 2 wound up in the downloads folder where I keep security program installers. I have no idea why, it was one of those "starts without being directed into a particular folder" kind of downloads, which means it should default to the previous folder. Thanks, it's installing now.
