And I love coffee. Any advises how to beat this alcoholism thing?
Post edited April 06, 2019 by Crowitzer
Get professional help?
I've got proffesional help , I've got a psychiatrist. Still this alcohol thing is hard, I thought it's easy to get by but I can't get through a day without a shot. I thought writing on this forum would help me but I still drink. I thought games would get me through, that too failed. I just want to live my day like the rest of you please help me.

Move back in with your parents, open up a B&B, and become a gaming addict.
Sadly, I doubt you'll find meaningful help in a gaming forum.
I can only suggest to avoid the places where you usually buy alcoholic drinks.
Or if you bring them home, stop doing that.
When you feel the need to drink, maybe try doing something else, like chewing a gum or getting a fruit juice? ¯\_(O_o)_/¯

I know it's easy to say stop doing that (no offence of course) but it's still there. A little black hole telling you "you wil feel better if you just drink just a bit". And it's never just a bit, it's always 6-7 beers.

Thank you for your support though.

I'm an alcoholic (sober for the last decade) and phaolo is right, this is not the place to look for help.

According to the governments health recommendations you should change the source of the addiction to a new one;

Sugar
Fast food
Gaming/Gambling
Smoking nicotine, tea leaves or marijuana
Masturbation
Sex
Internet surfing / social media
Workout (or as Arnold Schwarzenegger said it "The greatest feeling you can get in a gym, or the most satisfying feeling you can get in the gym is... The Pump.")
...et cetera.... et cetera...

An addiction will always be there one form or the other for the rest of your life - what matters is what you make out of what you got.

Just ask people who experienced catastrophic liver failure if they would ever drink again.
I know it's a state of mind thing, depression or money or relational problems, but this is a thing that can be avoided, cancer patients aren't that lucky.

I know it's not a place for that kind of thing, but still I've got nowhere else to go. Tell you psychiatrist - he'
ll tell you just stop and thats it. Shrinrks don't solve anything ,they just want your money and that's it.

Anyway, how did you stay sober for so long? Any tricks you could share with me?

Perhaps, but there's nothing wrong with asking for advice.

Crowitzer:
I recommend that you seek out a helpful and supportive community of recovering (and recovered) alcoholics in which you can share your thoughts and struggles confidentially.

I agree, but in here?

He's likely to get people telling him to kill himself. I'm serious.

Either way I know I shouldn't give anyone advice, so it's best for everyone that I stay out of this thread.

Why not? Not only assholes but also (fellow) sufferers and good Samaritans exist everywhere.

By giving sound advice you're actively improving the state of this place.

You're being way too harsh on yourself, tinyE. I'm positive you're perfectly capable of giving good advice. :)

It's about the mindset. You don't "trick" yourself, that's just another way of saying "I don't really want to quit". Instead you are making a conscious choice not to take that drink. Every single time.

As others have said go find a support group like Alcoholics Anonymous who know what you're going through and help you keep making the right choice.
