I don't want to edit it unless I'm sure but for ARMA: Cold War Assault (basically Operation Flashpoint Cold War Crisis that was renamed due to rights issues and with one expansion (Red Hammer) stripped out), didn't it have a save system where it would checkpoint save at key points and although you could make a manual save anywhere, you could only do that once per mission?

Dogmaus: thank you. That link is an empty black page for me

Vendor-Lazarus: That's very weird. Works for me, and I use Pale Moon (non-chrome & non-firefox), which is known for site issues, due to google chrome(ium) monopoly having many sites be specifically tailored for it.

How about https://cryptpad.fr/sheet/?

If not, then a Gibiru and Brave Search (non-google) turned up this issue about CSP headers: https://github.com/xwiki-labs/cryptpad/issues/246 (did you check browser console log?)

Are you using any (google ad)blockers or (google CDN)replacers?
completely black empty page
not interested in other services, googl sheets is fine

idbeholdME: I can see another potential hitch in this plan. Some games change the saving behavior based on the difficulty. Painkiller for example becomes checkpoint only on the hardest difficulty. Or Enclave on the hardest difficulty completely disables in-level saves. There are checkpoint saves otherwise, but only stating it as an example.

Or games where you can save anywhere, but allow only a limited number of saves in a level based on the difficulty:
Hitman games
Soldier of Fortune

It's not that common, but you can still stumble upon it from time to time

dtgreene: I think this is a good system, manual saves that are supplemented by autosaves.
avatar
idbeholdME: That is indeed the best. Some games even include an option, where you pick an X amount of time and the game autosaves every 10 minutes for example. And they allow you to set how many of them you want the game to maintain.
the existence of iron man mode does nt affect the list
if any other difficlulty allows saving

damn, so better in the no list with a note :)
because the idea of the list should be save anywhere anythime (or almost)
:) thank you!

Trooper1270: Rimworld has manual saves, as and when you wish, and the ability to delete individual saves as one wishes, too.
thank you! added to the list! I hope this list will be useful for people when deciding to buy or play a game.
I find myself looking for the same info about a game after months or one year. Also, some games are not obvious.

That is why I specifically did not mention games with Iron man mode as that would be a different massive list of games that allow it.

The limited number of saves based on difficulty is ambiguous. It allows saving everywhere and loading at will, but you can reach a state where you run out of them. IIRC, in the 2 examples I gave, the number is limited on all difficulties, they just determine the amount.

And as for the first category, they're not iron man either. Painkiller only disables manual saves, but checkpoints still work. Enclave still saves between levels on hard, but just disables in-level saves.

My main concern was, if and how these special circumstances would be mentioned in the doc.
