GreenDamsel: Shouldn't, by default, the GOG community be more mature than the Steam one, due to a different target demographic?
Just thinking about it without any statistical evidence... I know many teens and tweens and I don't see them being interested in games with "shitty graphics and lol so much txt"
monkeydelarge: I don't think a person's level of maturity has anything to do with age because there are a lot of adults over the age of 30 who act like little children. I've even seen people over the age of 50 act like little children. And I've met people in their teens and early 20s who were very mature. So I don't think having more classic games means attracting a more mature community. And the Steam community has a lot of devs. In order to make the most money possible, they have to sell their games on Steam. And because they are selling their games on Steam, they have to work with Steam so naturally, they will hang out at the Steam forums for their games. It's also beneficial for them to do so because when devs hang out in the forums of their games, it makes people think the devs still care about their games. And it seems, most devs are very mature people or least appear to be so they don't piss off potential customers. Just thinking about it without any statistical evidence... I know many teens and tweens and I don't see them being interested in games with "shitty graphics and lol so much txt"
Just saying that the games published here usually don't draw an immature audience.
My example with the teens and tweens is based on personal experience as I have to deal with this demographic a lot and the one quote I gave was one example to further underline my point.
I'll ignore the Dev "argument", because I don't really see the point. Never had the urge to talk to a developer. And many of the indie developers don't seem very mature to me, when they post something. It usually just devolves into drama.
