I'd imagine that coming out of a coma you've been in for 13 years could be really traumatic.
Steam must have killed his mom and dad.
And killed God or something.
And had carnal sex with his butthole.

Man, can the steam-haters get any more stupid?
The very good arguments I see against steam are being swallowed up by the "Im an idiot and I hate steam because Im an idiot" threads.

There are plenty of Steam fanatics who're equally retarded. Everywhere you look there are fuckwits supporting / hating on just about everything.

For the record I'm fine with Steam. Don't love it or anything. But fine with it all the same.

Ill agree that both sides have the stupids that show up, but the steam haters used to have coherent arguments.
Now it's just "DRM BADDD FOR YOU AND KILLS YOUR MOTHER" or "STEAM BAD FOR YOU ON MY PROSUPERUPPPED LINUX BROFIST MACHINE YO!"

LoL that is good :) But its also the only place where you can play Medieval 2: Total War, Empire: Total War, Company of Heroes, Dead Island, CK2, Europa Universalis 4, Civilization V, Alien Isolation, Dying Light and such games on Linux without any hassle.

And yes, you can hate Steam but its also the only venue where you can get AAA games for Linux. Gog unfortunately fails totally on that ground. I might hate the Steam client but I'm also a realist when there is no other option available.

It's just that there are more of them now. For instance, back in the 80s - mid 90s all computer users were generally thought of as geeks - intelligent, but asocial. Now even the most vacuous pondlife is inseparable from at least some form of computer-centric device.

The simple rule is: The more adherents there are the lower the average IQ drops. That's why the world seems so dumb now. There is genuinely more people alive right now at this moment than have ever died.

Ever.

So naturally we've got Islamic State and whatever the fuck is going on in the US which makes Islamic State look like a good idea by comparison. The world will just keep getting dumber the more people there are to fill it.

qwixter: I know I was laughing in the other thread when he was incredulous over needing steam to redeem a steam cd key.
Yeah, what a ridiculous and completely stupid idea! Expecting to be able to redeem a Steam CD Key on the Steam website...

[/sarcasm]

Now, a genuine question: what kind of functionality (if any) does the Steam website provide?

It used to have (useful) forums where all sorts of gaming questions could be found answered in intelligible ways.
Now? It's practically useless.

I don't recall ever using anything BUT the client to deal with anything that had to do with Steam.

You're right. My bad. Steam should have had the foresight to code steam key redemption process into a browser because it was obvious that in the future steam haters would not want to use the client, which is the only way to get the game from steam, and would want to redeem the key in the browser, so that they could use the Steam API to connect to steam and redeem the game on another platform. Totally my bad.
Steam considers itself to be a platform. A virtual platform. For all intents and purposes, from their POV, there's no fundamental difference between Steam and XBox.

Which is one of many, many reasons Steam is a pest.

Heck, they are evolving that way with steam box, steam controller, big picture, steamvr,...

All the features I ignore. I hate when I hit big picture by mistake.

Yes. You can do everything that you can do in the client. The only thing that you can't do is to download games, music, videos and mods from the steam store. That is only possible through the client.
