Leroux: ......... I guess this helps to distinguish between those who really care about game preservation and those who just want to share games for free.
There are other views of course.

A game should never become abandonware ... and if it does, it kind of loses some moral stand for the owner/holder.

What price are they now asking for this previous abandonware?

Does it come with expansion packs or still support them?

Has the game been changed in any significant way, and the original version still not available?

etc etc

Like they say, you reap what you sow, and not all sins are forgiven.
this thread is about how my sex ed went
so.. he puts it there but pssst

It still distinguishes those who regret that the game is not sold anymore and those who'd prefer not to pay for it anymore. Anyway, I don't mean to judge whether it's right to pirate games or not, just saying that once a game is sold again by the rights holders, you can't call it abandonware anymore. Download it for free, if you have to, but don't claim it's all that different from pirating games.

And morals are a pretty shaky ground to stand on anyway, if everyone has their own ones. Laws aren't always right, but there's a reason why societies are regulated by them.

Very true for the most part.
And that's why I love GOG so much ... not much need to chase up Abandonware these days, unless real desperate.
I've got more than enough games to help me hold out. :)
