budejovice: I was informed of this via email. Many thanks for everything, mrkgnao. I just purchased your book.

I hope you find much fresh air and many beautiful vistas on foot in the near future.
I was counting on you to make an appearance here.
It means a lot to me. Many many thanks for everything (including buying the book).
That's a pity... :-(
But also very very understandable. Mrkgnao did me a big favour twice with a "service" which gog.com was to stupid and/or lazy for: I was able to recover my vanished game-entries of my Demo-Mix because of MaGog's data. That was the backup which kept my Mix alive. Gog makes no backups...

Thanks a lot mrkgnao for your great work and membership, for which gog should give you payment!
I'm sorry to see you go, even if I didn't directly benefit from your time/effort as such, I still appreciate everything you've done around here.
The time and energy you devoted to Gog and the community here was clearly a labor of love, and although your path leads you away from us, you have left an indelible mark--you have made a difference here. For that, we that remain express our utmost gratitude to you. May you be happy on where your path leads you.

Farewell, mrkgnao, safe travels.

mrkgnao: … to say goodbye.
This is really sad. Sad for GOG, sad for the members of the forums, who relied on your help personally and through MaGog, and enjoyed your friendly, witty posts. And additionally sad for me, as we had only recently established a friend link, which made me happy. I have very few friends here, was glad that you were one of them.
It was good to know you were out there for us, and now you'll be gone, and you will leave a hole that won't be filled.

Take care, enjoy your life without all the stress of GOG-related problems.

mrkgnao: It's still very vague at the moment. Most probably turn-based tactics. Story-based, affected by the player's actions. Battles on a grid separated by cut scenes. No world map exploration, no dialogue options, no sandboxes, no multiplayer. 3D or isometric.

HypersomniacLive: Looks like you're past "vague" regarding the "noes".

Should be interesting, given that you're a great story-teller. Theme? Era?
Theme? Possibly memory and old age. Possibly language and books.
Era? Probably none.

BTW, forgot a few more noes:
No procedurally generated levels, no permadeath, not inspired by anything.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if this was just a temporary Hiatus (You're not even really leaving are you? Just less active on the forum). So many people make threads about how they are leaving, but then after awhile they're back here again. What's the point of going through the motions exactly? If you want a break, take it.

I take breaks all the time in my main account and nobody notices or cares. I don't even bother to advertise that I'm doing it, because what purpose will it serve really?

Hero with arthritis has to save rare books but senility prevents him from completing his quest?

I can relate to this.

For the most part, I agree with you. Never really saw the point of most farewell threads (you can always message your friends to tell them you won't be around. Most others won't care or notice), but in this case, I can see the reason: mrkgnao has been providing a lot of support to the community through MaGOG and its robust functions/features (the What Did Just Update thread). So letting people know that this won't any longer be supported and tossing it out there to the community that if someone wants to put in the effort to maintain the thread via MaGOG's logs, they can do so... This is probably a good idea.

Actually sounds quite good. Probably "Party of non-heroes", rather than "Hero".

Didn't really had much interaction with you but i know you're one of the pillars of (what was) this community and i think that is unanimous that your work here was (is) really appreciated.

Good luck out there.

And yet you hide behind a fake account to say that, why bother?

mrkgnao: [...] "Party of non-heroes", rather than "Hero".
See? This is why you are the story-teller.
Can we expect a good dose of your wit and sarcasm in a theme like this?

Hopefully.
Just saw the title of your thread and already knew what was all about. Well, what can I say that hasn't been said already? I wish you all the best & good luck with whatever you do from now on (I'm sure you'll do it right, as you did during your time in this forum). ;)

ps. Imagine a GOG forum where no new members will have to guess how that weird nickname "mrkgnao" is actually adressed. WTF!

Farewell! :)

I would hardly classify myself as new as far as goglodytes go, and I had to guess until I read an explaining post in this thread :-P
