i got this sofort banking on GOG checkout page !

so i thought about a virus...
Tested on a new clean machine:
creating a new gog account (with a private browsing session): do not get it on checkout page
log in my gog account on this computer (from which never visited gog so far, cleann system install): get sofort bank in checkout page

tested on my "paranoid computer" (which i didnt use for nearly a month to go on web sites/purchase)
this one has strong IDS and an antimalware
Get sofort banking in GOG checkout page (with my account)

i can't find any occurence of this stuff on usual virus tech websites

launched an analysis of my computer, and checked manually for process, registry keys, background services (the usual malware crap places of nesting): nothing

is it IP related ? i mean, would it be the IP adress given to me by ISP that got flagged at a level i don't have my hand on ? (means outside of my home network, above it)

exactly: now i'm stuck at home because of severe health problem, ands only get out for my medical treatment i dont have the need for that anymore...

They actually did have that at one point. I think it was for The Witcher? I mean, their support section has an article for redeeming GOG keys, so obviously they must have had SOMETHING.

If you don't have a phone because you hate being called, then it's an acceptable excuse. If it's monetary reason, I find it hard to believe when you can pay for games right and left.

My point isn't that it would cost too much, my point is that there's no reason to pay for something you won't use.

I looked into Sofort, and they say it on their page (click me) in Step 2:
1: Select your bank
Select your country and with the help of the bank's sort code, choose the bank that will carry out the transfer.

2: Login
Now you're in the login section of our secure payment form. Log in with your own online banking login details. The information will be sent to your bank in an encrypted form.

3: Prepare the transfer
You will be asked for a confirmation code. Each confirmation code can be used only once and for your security cannot be entered a second time.

4: Summary
You will now receive a summary of your SOFORT transfer or an order confirmation from the online shop. This gives you all information about your purchase in one place.

This is a scary thing. No WAY I'd enter my credentials into this thing.

here phone lines for cellphones range from 5 to 20 euros a month (at 5 you roughly got 2hours of vocal call, national only...) so that ain't very cheap

anyway it wasn't the point, you don't need a phone to buy a computer game or use a computer game, period
you need a computer, internet and a creditcard/bank account (also, obviously, an email adress)

Not a virus - it is one of the payment options of GOG. Noticed it a while back and now checked again. Was there before but you probably just missed it. GOG - reconsider this?

I`ve read up a bit on it, too. Sofort was founded in Germany but has been bought out by a Swedish company in 2014. By terms and conditions banks used here in Germany didn`t allow users to share their pin / tan - but the Federal Cartel Office ruled earlier this year that those terms and conditions were illegal. Which resulted in some banks doing a one hundred eighty degrees flip and actually recommend Sofort as a payment method now ...

There`s plenty of criticism of them in the security conscious circles, but they seem to be pretty successful otherwise and actually quite widely used and - as with GOG - their system implemented in quite a number of online payment systems on websites.

This must be a European only thing. IN US, there's no option.

Yes. Is a European company. Maybe mainland Europe only even - I don`t remember seeing it as an option while I was living in the UK.
