If I want to start giveaway threads, how should I use random.org? And how can I add a list GOGers (giveaway entrants) to random.org?

Note
Is there any alternative solution (random number generator)? And why GOGers use random.org?
No posts in this topic were marked as the solution yet. If you can help, add your reply
You use it randomly.

Ask a stupid question....XD
In the "True Random Number Generator" box, you can set the total number of contestants of your giveaway and then press generate! The number you'll get it's the winner. It's really simple.

edit: I forgot to tell you that you must make a list of the entrants and give them a number before hitting the "Generate" button.

What I did was using the list randomizer. I entered the users' names in the order they had joined and the name that ended up as the first entry on the list after randomizing it was the winner.
I just give every entry in a giveaway a number, starting with the first one that posted and than put in the max number of participants at random.org and see which number it generates. Then I compare it with the entries and look who is the lucky winner.
Never entered lists or something liket that.
I think its good to involve the community in the giveaway though, make a challenge for the reward. Like the Photography contests and stuff.

I immediately knew what was poetry about. But, unfortunately for me, six hours after thread opening. Was so depressed that I had opened bottle of milk^^

Here's how I did in a previous giveaway:

1) First of all, assign a number to each participant of your giveaway. If you have 5 entrants, assign them a number between 1 and 5.
2) Download and install Notepad++ if you don't already have it. It's an advanced text editor similar to Notepad, and it's a freeware.
3) Go to the following page: https://www.random.org/integers/?mode=advanced
4) Choose to generate "10000" random integers, between "1" and the "number of entrants", in "1" column, in decimal, and as a bare-bones text document (type text/plain). Choose to "generate your own personal randomization right now" and click on "Get Numbers".
5) A new webpage will be generated, with a list of 10000 random numbers. Copy these results to Notepad++ (CTRL-A then CTRL-C on the webpage, and CTRL-V in Notepad++).
6) Use the search option of Notepad++ (CTRL-F) and type "1" in the "Find what" combo box. Click on the "Count" button and note the result. Proceed with the following numbers. The member assigned to the highest count is your winner.
