I had a pretty bad blue screen lock-in right after I upgraded my iMac post Windows 7 era. Had there not been a very dear person, joyfully unconditional of most non-Windows OS, I would have ended up trying to find out what is equivalent of "format C" in iOS.

Command prompt + alt - as in alternative disk - it was. If I remember correctly - in memoriam HTK.

^^Ugh, I stupidly upgraded to ten and it screwed up my laptop. My touch pad doesn't work right and it takes forever to boot up and it's just terrible. I hate it.

Keeping my Windows XP for gaming with old games that work better on a 4:3 screen. Windows 7 is planned to be my main machine for games & Internet.

Isn't there some rollback option? Otherwise, backup your files and restore whatever OS it came with or Linux o__O.

Touch pad might just be a driver issue by the way.

To be honest with 64 bit machines, it's better to use Windows 7 for me. I still use XP in VirtualBox however, quite a bit, but not as often as i used to. Which is sorta sad, gotta re-figure out a standard installation and then just COW any changes to keep things smaller...

I'm not computer savvy at all, is going to linux difficult? I had been pondering this, and after the stupid i've been dealing with, it seems a lot more appealing.

Some of them are simpler than others but if you're looking for windows like ease, you should probably roll back to 7.

Windows isn't my primary OS and it is—more often than not—virtual machine'd. Windows 10 has a bigger resource footprint than XP so I usually run XP if there is no need for anything newer. (Actually CrossOver is my first choice, provided I can get the program to run.)

I have XP on a couple of older laptops, with one dual booted with a Linux distro. Both are offline when using XP. I still keep XP around for some games and MS Office.

For new games, I simply just get them if they have a Linux port or are at least WinXP compatible (preferably Linux though).
Most people here don't go online with their WinXP and me neither.
In general it's better to not go online with Windows anyway.

I guess if GoG would expand its Linux catalogue (WINE or native), even more people would jump ship.

The old Windows games Win10 doesn't like usually run flawlessly in Linux without any hassle.

nah, W7-64 for as long as I can remember.
and probably will switch to linux in 2020, seeing as ms goes so low with their w10 "service".
