zeogold: After living in my room long enough, I'm pretty sure I've acquired the skills necessary to avoid doing that.

skeletonbow: I would have thought I was up to the task too, but I totally burned myself on that - literally. Photos below. :)

DISCLAIMER: These are graphic photos of 2nd+3rd degree burns that some might find disturbing, view at own risk.
I should've read the disclaimer before opening one. >_<
Probably would've clicked on it anyway, but still. xD

zeogold: Good grief, man! How'd that happen to you?! O_o

Also, just in case anybody was wondering, he wasn't joking about the disclaimer.
I sat a 26 ounce mug full of boiling water (weighing 4.5 pounds full) fresh out of the microwave on the front of the kitchen sink because the counter was too cluttered, then proceeded to try to wash a spoon and somehow managed to bump the mug and it fell and landed directly on my foot, burning half my foot. I immediately reached down and yanked the sock off to remove the boiling water from my flesh and that tore the flesh off my foot in the little triangle area. That was on March 29th, roughly 11 weeks ago. It's had minor surgery on it 3 times, and the doctor thinks it will take 3-4 weeks more for the wound to fully close. Fortunately, despite how terrible it looks, I haven't had any physical pain for about a month now. I think I only had to take 300mg of regular acetaminophen once or twice in the last 5-6 weeks. The majority of the pain was due to the weight of the cup impacting my foot causing severe bruising that took a long time to heal. The burn itself only hurt for 2-3 days believe it or not. The lidocaine I used initially plus the flamazine the doctor prescribed along with Tylenol 3 took care of the pain completely more or less.

The worst was being unable to walk around freely and having to struggle daily all day with crutches for so long to fend for myself, and was unable to go shopping for groceries etc. Really sucked, but even though it's got a ways to heal yet the pain is gone so long as I baby it, and I can get things done now. Wearing shoes is very uncomfortable and aggravates it though so I'm limited to go shopping still. Fortunately though, GOG games have helped to pass the time and make things pleasant. :oP

I edited my post to move the disclaimer to the top and stress it more. :)

...fend for yourself?

In all seriousness though, I hope you recover soon. Glad to hear the burn wasn't too bad, but that does not sound fun. At all.

Yeah, the worst part aside from limited mobility is that a few weeks later I had another serious medical problem rear its ugly head that really murdered me for about 3 weeks. I managed to get that at bay though so been feeling a lot better the last few weeks, plus now that summer is here and we're having nice weather it really lifts the spirits.

I can say one thing for sure though - don't ever spill boiling water on yourself, it can really be much worse than one might think it could ever be for sure. :) Not the first time I've ever done that, but definitely the worst. First time it needed medical attention anyway. Hopefully the last too. :)
