For more than 4 months I have been updating textures for Dungeon Siege using ESRGAN. I have released a texture pack that contains 3929 textures and is 5.97 GB large (compared to original textures that are 700 MB in total). All terrain textures have been updated, 750 world objects and decals, as well as bosses and some larger enemies and NPCs.

Everything is based on original textures, there are no custom textures. The algorithm increases width and height of textures four times and adds new detail. I think the new textures preserved the original look very faithfully and is a major improvement.

Incredible job!!

Makes the environment look much better with everything not being so blurry. If I ever get to replaying Dungeon Siege again, I will definitely try this.
Thanks for sharing your work, it looks awesome. I just recently got the game on a Steam sale as well, I'll definitely use these textures.

Wow...impressive and very nice of you :)

Questions if I may:

1. How much does this impact the speed of the game on PCs(does it make the game slower on lower end PCs, basically?)?

2. Does this also improve textures in the expansion as well? And if no will you be also doing that at some point?

3. I assume I just drop these in the proper folder in my game folders....that correct?

Thanks again, btw...downloading as we "speak". :)

Cool. If Squeenix ever lets GOG release DS1 here, be sure to share this in the release thread. :)

Considering how long it's been and the huge number of votes the games have on the wishlist, I'm afraid that's not going to happen :/

Textures only requires video RAM(VRAM). Considering how old the game is, any current generation video card(with 2-4 GB) should have no problem running the game.

It has more to do with Square Enix. I'm flabbergasted that we got Diablo and Blade Runner, but Square Enix seems to have no interest in realeasing new games here.

The main difference here is that these games weren't available on Steam before.

If an old game is on Steam and not on GOG, the chances of it coming here seem miniscule. Dungeon Siege, Heretic, Hexen and so many others.

True, but I wouldn't say it's completely out of the question for those titles to show up here one day eventually.

Your work is amazing, I played a lot of Abuse using your SDL port. Thanks!

Looks great, will definately have to pick up when I get back. Congrats.

I do like these upscale texture mods (a fair few on moddb) where the original is still retained.

1. I have not noticed a change in framerate during gameplay, only the initial load time has been increased. I even tried it on my Intel integrated graphics, and even with that I get the same framerate with and without the new textures.

2. This only contains textures for the original game, but LOA mostly uses the same textures. I only updated the displacer texture for LOA which you can download from the link on the ModDB page in description. As for other LOA textures I can't say anything right now except that I need a very long break from this, this was very overwhelming project, it felt like it will never end.

3. Yes, once you extract the files you just copy them in Resources folder. You can find instructions in the included README.

Or maybe it depends on the publisher?
