It's summertime! A time for barbeques, scenic drives along the coast, and baseball. And chances are that, at some point in the month, you'll want to play games, too. Yeah, it's gaming drought season, so there are no new major releases this month, but there's still some cool content coming out. Here are a bunch of PC games that look good that GOG won't get for one reason or another. Prove me wrong:
Furi: http://store.steampowered.com/app/423230/?snr=1_7_7_230_150_7
It's a boss-rush action game with a trippy art-style and Carpenter Brut music.
INSIDE: http://store.steampowered.com/app/304430/?snr=1_7_7_230_150_3
The new game from the developers of Limbo. It's been getting rave reviews.
Megadimension Neptunia VII: http://store.steampowered.com/app/460120/?snr=1_7_7_230_150_6
Yeah, okay, it's some weeb shit, but the series is better than it's anime-as-hell aesthetic would suggest.
TRIZEAL Remix: http://store.steampowered.com/app/465070/?snr=1_7_7_230_150_1
A re-release of a Dreamcast-era shmup. One of the better games in the genre, and great music.
Umineko When They Cry: http://store.steampowered.com/app/406550/?snr=1_7_7_comingsoon_150_1
A very highly-regarded visual novel, finally getting a release in the West.
Under Night In-Birth EXE: Late: http://store.steampowered.com/app/452510/?snr=1_7_7_comingsoon_150_3
The new fighting game from the developers of the excellent Melty Blood. Looks fantastic in motion.
Muv-Luv: http://store.steampowered.com/app/449830/?snr=1_7_7_comingsoon_150_4
Another visual novel, and also very highly regarded. This is the first part of a trilogy. The second game in the series is the highest-rated visual novel ever on vndb.
Assault Suit Leynos: http://gematsu.com/2016/04/assault-suit-leynos-coming-west-ps4-pc-summer
This reboot of the classic series is coming to PC on the 12th. Remember Cybernator? Well, this is that. Lots of robots blowing lots of stuff up.
I Am Setsuna: http://store.steampowered.com/app/441830/?snr=1_7_7_comingsoon_150_5
Square-Enix took a different approach, and let a newly-formed, small internal studio come up with an RPG designed to replicate the classics. Impressions of the JP release have been favorable, and it's coming to PC in the West this month.
Phantom Brave: http://store.steampowered.com/app/409870/?snr=1_7_7_comingsoon_150_6
Remember how Disgaea came out on PC a few months back? Well, this is another formerly PS2 strategy RPG from the same devs.
Trouble Witches Origin: http://store.steampowered.com/app/460630/?snr=1_7_7_comingsoon_150_7
It's a shmup, and a good one. Not the absolute best one, mind you, but still worth paying attention to for fans of the genre.
I'd be shocked if we got even one of these, especially the way things have been going lately. The point is, there's more than enough content to choose from, even in this relatively sparse month, so I have no idea why none of it shows up here.
