I definitely enjoyed the Half-life games, not gonna pretend otherwise, but they are not my favourite FPS games.
I am much more excited about [hopefully] getting a new Serious Sam game.

V3TNok: Better be on the new consoles too ,to can avoid steam.
It would not surprise me if it becomes a Steam exclusive.

codyaj1995: YAY!
Now as long as Valve is not just screwing with us!
(still personally believe it would be Half Life 2 Episode 2 Part 2 lol!)
Exactly. Nothing involving a number 3 will happen at Valve. Gabe can't count to three, but expect a lot of twos! ;-)
Plot Twist:They will announce Half-Life 1 and Half-Life 2 in a single game rezulting Half-Life 3
My apathy about Half-Life and this news is so great I can't even
I don't see the point. I mean Halflife 2 that i played was an okay game, but i certainly am not a fan of it, anymore than i am Star Trek or Star Wars. Although i am a fan of The Gamers movies...

Naszrador: Can't really believe it. The game would die on it's own hype, build up over the years. The fans will expect the game of games, but probably won't get more than "just" a good game. And that's not enough for it.
I think it would go the same way as with Fallout 4: 50% absolutely loving it, 50% being somewhat disappointed but still playing it.

Had Half-life 2 been released today I seriously doubt it would have been rated as highly as when first released.
This is of-course the nature of things, however it does mean that there is big gap in expectations between what Half-life 2 actually delivered and what people expect today. Younger gamers who have never played the previous games will be those who decide what image the game receives, how it is portrayed in reviews and on forums.
Great, I'll pick it up when it arrives on GoG or somewhere else DRM-free, maybe I'll get to play Half-Life 2 beforehand too then. ;D
I'll believe it when I see it. And by that, I mean screenshots, reviews and the like.

Although honestly, Half-Life? That's, like, so 2004, man. I liked HL2 (and eps), but I haven't been losing sleep over the lack of a follow-up.
Probably just Valve trolling the fan base again, the released game will be Gabe Newell Knife Collection Simulator 2016.

Never liked Half-Life as the events in game were way too scripted to feel like I accomplished anything myself in the series.

...ignore this thread but have to post this?

So, not so great apathy, then?

^Haha, that made me chuckle. Valve release drm free. Oh that's going to keep me amused all day.

Wishbone: If you haven't played Black Mesa yet, you should do so.
I want to, but cannot get it to run. I downloaded the free mod version and thought it would be easy to get it to run in the Linux version of source... nope All I ever got was a main menu. :P

KiNgBrAdLeY7: Is that for real?
I hope so :D
I don't even understand why Half-Life whatever, well besides the first main game, is even worthy of a topic or anything. Felt too linear and boring, especially 2, who has an annoying character (read: Alyx) and the protagonist can't even groan in pain or something. But its gotta be the lengthy levels with little music to company you as you move as well as the story moments that do not come as often as the aliens do.
This is bullshit, man. We all know that Valve cannot count to three. Ever.
