Potzato: No I think the argument that says that it prevents 'rushed reviews' or equality between reviewers regardless of their ressources is quite valid.

tomimt: It is valid, but sadly many times not the real reason.
Yes, I don't dispute that it helps the pre-ordering madness :-)

Crewdroog: and yes i agree with you. at this point if you pre-order a game and it's a buggy mess, then shame on you for pre-ordering it.
Well, that is certainly a video game victim-blaming line of thinking :P

Developers should just not be creating buggy messes. Sure, pre-orders are risky, but that doesn't excuse developers from shipping things that are completely broken. But this is coming from someone that does pre-order things - but only if there's some kind of discount or crazy deal.
I really really hope that GF is not meant here...
Buggy and wait for patches? Sounds like every single PC game ever made ever.
I hope it's neither of them, I'm pretty hyped for both games.
Have to wait and see, I guess.

i'm not saying that developers shouldn't get their shit together and not release a buggy game, but with the track record now, one should know better. if less people preorder due to lack of trust, it may be less likely that they'll release as much garbage. I mean seriously, with downloads available now and there never being a shortage of games, how hard is it to wait a few days?
so the game is shit then, damn no point getting this one, sticking with the original
high rated

Thing is. Pre-ordering is actually just a really stupid thing to do. It made sense when games came in boxes, and you wanted to be sure the stock wouldn't run out, but that doesn't happen in 2015 because GOG exists.

Ergo - you do not preorder. Ever. And GOG is a really bad retailer for offering preorders. GOG is a values-based service, and offering pre-orders is a contravention of its founding values.

That said, I preordered Grim because I want there to be 0 seconds between release and my download starting. Because I'm an idiot.

I AM AN IDIOT. LAUGH AT ME FOR PREORDERING A GAME. And don't do it yourself. Never. Ever. Do not be stupid.
Pre ordering is basically buying a plane ticket for a flight that may crash.

Don't beat yourself up, I would have pre-ordered Witcher 3 if it didn't have any bonuses and didn't come with "16" "free" "DLCs".

B...but all plane tickets are pre-orders o_O

What is the alternative? Waiting for the plane to land, then checking the news to see if everything was okay, then travelling back in time and catching the plane with the knowledge that the plane doesn't crash?
