Today is a good day for Greeks.
Greek courts reject request to block access to torrent downloads. Read here: http://www.tovima.gr/en/article/?aid=669653

Don't get me wrong. I'm pretty much against piracy. I just believe the technology of torrents shouldn't be punished for all the wrongdoings of a minority.
Nice! Don't bow to the external powers' arm wringing Greece!
I doubt it will be the last we'll be hearing from them.

What are you talking about? They are just friendly "requests".

Most certainly!

"New guidelines to move forward responsibly."
Haha, they really slammed that one down. :P
They certainly seemed to know their stuff in this case.

Besides torrents are probably used far more or legitimate practices, like sharing recent releases of OSes like Debian or Ubuntu.

I got a better idea! Why doesn't the AEPI say that the internet has copyright infringement and just shut down all the internet on their side? And phones can be used to send pictures and audio so they can circumvent music so they must be shut down too! And the mail system, yes! The mail system is a prime example of being able to send stuff to another person in so many forms.

One could also argue that on a chocolate cake a certain sequence of nuts or dabs of frosting could be hiding secrets encoded that could hint at the end of some movies as well!

(Obviously i'm being sarcastic and satirical for most of this)

A minority?

Don't get me wrong, I do think blocking torrents is wrong as it has legitimate uses but I doubt that the majority of torrent traffic is anything else than piracy. I must say that this is just an opinion with no data to prove it.
I beg to differ. I want to disagree. Greek justice is rotten to the bone. Criminals roam free and command respect in upper echelon of society, common crooks run this place, full of scandals. No one is to pay the price of those injustices; but innocent victims in their stead. Even when evidence is given to us (Laggard list), the insidious cheaters involved send a scapegoat in prison, bury it all, and the scoundrel rat runs a black mail operation FROM INSIDE PRISON!

I am a pirate, but to hell with it! Shove it up greek justice's place where sun does not shine! Give me justice in society! Punish the criminals, save the innocents and the victims! I don't care about the justice in torrents! I care about justice in ours, and us. I would trade ANYTIME a full torrent ban in this Hell-ass, with a perfect justice and moral compass enforced to EVERYONE EQUALLY. This, comes off from the mouth of a pirate, and a dedicated one, too.

People die from starvation and from inhaling monoxide by burning things to keep warm inside their apartments, a torrent couldn't have any use for me! I play while others breathe their last! Please, cut off my entertainment, and keep those people warm and fed, instead of cold and dead, so i wouldn't need to drown myself in entertainment to loose sight of this all! Can you, justice?

You mean the majority.

Yea, fixing real life and world problems (such as slavery/starvation/jobs/medical/etc.) should be the main thing for the courts, not something as trivial as 'copyright'.

Oh, your son is dying from an illness a $1 pill can cure, ...we don't care about that, ...we only care that his ipod has a single bootleg song on it, take him away. ~corporation ran goverment
