mrkgnao: A "fun" experiment for anyone living in the US (or actually anywhere except regCN, regRO and regRS). Try to gift Spacecom and see the price change from your local price to $14.99.

This means that regUS is not the default region-free region for GOG. The default they use is regCN.

Still, MaGog will continue to use regUS as the baseline because I really don't want to have to explain to people why the US has two regionally-priced games.

No.

If you try to gift "Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, The - Game + Expansion Pass [Season Pass] [Premium]" you're asked to pay $79.99 (the regCN price), not $84.99 (the regUS price), and certainly not $101.69 (the regGB (highest) price). Assuming of course you live in a "cheaper than $79.99" region.

Yes. Discussed at length in other threads (e.g. GOG change tracker). But the point I was making here is that the "region-free price" is not the regUS price, it is the regCN price.

Yes. But the point I was making is that the "region-free price" is not the regUS price, it is the regCN price.
Probably the regCN price is the actually global price on GOG for whatever reason... well at least the gifting restrictions are gone...

Another "fun" fact:

If you live in the US (and several other regions) and buy Wasteland 2 Director's Cut Digital Deluxe Edition Upgrade [DLC] for yourself, it costs $19.99 (the regUS price). If you buy it as a gift, it costs $20.00 (the regCN price).

P.S. If you're wondering why MaGog doesn't record that the regCN price is $20.00, it's because the code I wrote for regional pricing ignores price differences smaller than 2 cents (in order to avoid issues of float inaccuracy, if you know what that is). I hope you'll forgive her.

One more "fun" fact:

There is one game that is regionally priced but still costs everywhere the same to buy and to gift. That game is Cossacks Anthology, because regCN is the cheapest region for this game. You have to see the regional pricing for this game to believe it:

* Regional price for Cossacks Anthology is $6.49 instead of $5.99 in regRU, regUA, regUZ
