DubConqueror: That's actually a comment of yours that I like. A +1 to counter your negative rep.
I like the positive outlook certainly, but it's not a comment I agree with. The desperate consensus now seems to be that the mightiest man in the world really can't do much in the grand scheme of things. Well of course he can, and he already did. He wants to and he can e.g. destabilize NATO with his pass the loot approach to international partnerships, and some of jamyskis' recent posts have described that scenario in horrifically realist terms.

Tyrrhia: That. Also, the fact that George "Civilisation Destroyer" Soros will not be the shadow president and the puppeteer is a great thing.

Matruchus: Thank you Assange and Wikileaks for bringing the truth forward to the world.

Tyrrhia: Don't forget James O'Keefe—he's a hero, too!
Ah, yes. How could I forget Project Veritas. Yes indeed kudos to James O'Keefe for showing how corrupt the US media and US democratic party are.

Kudos again for great undercover journalist job on revealing media/democratic party corruption to O'Keefe.

Cadaver747: Assasination attempt still a possibility. Little to no one likes Trump, especially among the so called elitist. Time will tell. Perhaps America will be great again like it was in '90s. I hope so, because I loved good old USA
Probably discouraged by the thought "President Pence"

Tyrrhia: Replace "globalist" by "racist" and "far-right" by "lefties" and you get the same results. Words are just that—words. What happened to your (general) psychological strength that you feel offended by any- and everything?
Your comparison is flawed in that most of the left (barring perhaps a minority of hardcore communists, to whom even parties like the German CDU and French UMP are far-right) can distinguish between right wing, hard right and far-right. I guess similarly to the way that those on the far-right refer to any political opponent as "lefties", "liberal loonies" or whatever.

Positioning on the political scale can be a matter of perspective, but racism does have a fairly absolute definition, in that if you judge, act against (or indeed, in favour of), or incite hatred against a person based on their race or racial characteristics (which includes the ubiquitous "racialisation" of religious individuals), you are racist.

The problem with applying this principle to globalisation is that (a) globalisation is a largely political view and so more nuanced views are possible on it and (b) you cannot directly make someone's like difficult by being pro or anti-globalisation. Personally, I am actually fairly neutral on it - I am neither pro nor anti-globalisation per se, although I do have anti-opinions on various aspects of it.

markrichardb: Even the UK media does this, and it ain't right.
The media had a rather objective reason to throw all they have against Donald Trump (and failed even doing that). I would love to see e.g. the 2017 freedom of the press ranking already. The US is at #41 in 2016, but after Trump's chum billionaire Thiel has taken down a major news outlet this year, after a major revelatory recording of Trump almost hadn't surfaced for fear of being sued, after a long row of major newspapers are being sued by Trump via Thiel's lawyer for reporting on accusers, after 50 supposedly anti-Trump journalists were doxed at once on 8chan, and after the nazi twitter hashtag #TheList made a target out of any and all journalists who dared to speak out against the next US president, I think it's possible the US comes crashing down into the triple digits of that ranking, and I firmly believe the media had a fucking good reason to flip the finger to the man in order to preserve the last inch of freedom the press still has.

You mean the decade in which America was governed for seven years by a Democrat - Bill Clinton no less?

But yeah, I agree that the 90s were the best decade in over a century. It was very much the decade of political centrism.
RIP America, GG

To all you mentally challenged, racist assholes that voted for Trump, he's not going to change anything. He's not going to make us look like a black and white Leave it to Beaver sitcom from the 50's. You not only willingly voted for an Id-driven man-child, you took a giant piss on our right to vote at all. We fought for the right to vote, trusting ourselves to make the responsible, best candidate for the job. This election wasn't just an indictment of the voting public, but of our very system. We are too stupid, too petty, too selfish to be allowed to vote people into office. I wish we lived in a dictatorship, then at least it would be a strongman screwing ourselves, instead of the imbecilic populous shooting itself in the foot over and over again. If you voted for Trump because you thought it would be funny, or think for one second he gives a damn about you, screw you.
Time for all the whiners to make good on their promises. When does the mass exodus to Canada begin?

When something gets so bad and makes people so angry that Donald Trump as President is the result to ensure we don't have to go through it any longer, someone, somewhere really fucked it up.

Don't pass judgement and hate people for wanting change from expensive unaffordable healthcare (the only healthcare I can afford carries so little coverage as to be non-existent), from socialist high taxes stealing earnings to give to people not contributing to society except to collect a check, from such lax immigration laws as to be non-existent...

Trump wasn't the better candidate per se. He was the only real choice that wasn't four more years of punishment towards a socialist agenda.

Even if it's the first time for the gun wielder too, then :P
Well, assuming Trump can handle the heat without sueing everyone it's gonna be a great 4 years for Last Week tonight/Full Frontal etc which is the most impact this will probably have on me anyway :)

Not many times I actively think about this but today I'm really glad I live in the Netherlands ^^

The slight strain of socialism is the only thing that could ever make health care affordable for everyone in the US. You need so much socialism it's not even funny any more. You need to stop the marvellous perfectly capitalist economy selling you health as the ultimate luxury product, and that's just not going to happen, least of all under Donald Trump.

Health in the US is for the super-rich only already. We'll see how tax cuts for those super-rich will change that.
