Crosmando: The West should be working with Russia to destroy the Syrian opposition (really just jihadist terrorists).
avatar
jamyskis: So by extension, you'd be a Saddam Hussein fan then, yeah? You do realise that the Syrian and Iraqi Baath'ists are cut from the same ideological cloth as Putin and Trump?
Iraq was in a much better position under Saddam than it is today - i.e. Iraq was a modern, industrialized state with a secular government now it's a theocratic hellhole in perpetual civil war. But Saddam did make a mistake in his military adventurism. And yes, I greatly admire the Baath Party.

Same goes for Libya, it was a modern state now it's a theocratic hellhole. If Russia has done anything right, it's exposing the fraudulant hypocrisy that is "humanitarian interventionism". Nothing makes me more sick than the bleeding-heart American liberals crying about "muh Syrian children" and "muh human rights" while at the same time saying we need to bomb the Syrian government and Russia, disgusting. Where is the human rights of the pro-Assad Syrian people who have been murdered by head-chopping jihadists trying to turn Syria into a theocracy?

Crosmando: I don't think that's true, he only mentioned bombing and destroying ISIS (and maybe Al-Qaeda, I'm not sure).
ISIS doesn't have the "inches" that Trump wishes to bomb. Syria does. And, not sure if anyone ever told Trump, bombs and nukes in particular are a chainsaw and not a scalpel.

Crosmando: IAlso Hillary took an extremely anti-Russian position during the election
That's only what gave us peace for 70 years. Trump is mesmerized by Putin's imperialist strikes, it is an inspiration to him evidently, particularly when you hear about his "let's take their oil" plans. But that, too, is a promise that one can only pray he'll break.

They do. But it doesn't really matter with what dictator they cooperate. It's deep dark shit anyway.
What a bad day. What's up with US voters? I don't get them and can only shake my head in disbelief.

Trump was one of the worst candidates ever and what he said should have been 10 times enough to make him not voteable, but nevertheless it happened? Do really millions of US Americans think exactly the same way? If this is true, may God help us all. I guess I underestimated the will of the American voters. I tend to call it stupidity actually, but well to everyone his own.

But then, it's democracy. Sometimes you get good results, seldom bad ones (this is such a case) but on average it's still better than all the alternatives, so it's fine.

The only good thing about it: the people who voted for him will have to suffer from him most (as if lower taxes on real estate will help them ;)) and while there is some impact on the world I hope it can be minimized.

So, all in all, good luck because there won't be much to look forward to any other way.

What I don't get is why people act against their own interests and vote for the stupidest choice where you do not need to be a genius at all to predict that nothing good will come out? It's a miracle.

From Obama to Trump. What an epic decline!

darthspudius: Are you saying Clinton isn't a despicable horrible person? Of course she isn't. She only believes in causing violence, paying off people to do so, supports Black Lives Matter a known terrorist group, she's a third wave feminist which is extremely discriminating and sexist on its own and effectively changed the internet with her censorship of google, facebook, twitter etc.
Do you have a concise, preferably non-right wing source for this? I'd like to know what it's about that's wrong about Hillary but I don't really now how to search. Googling for it is probably a bad idea, as I'll be flooded with sources of which I don't know if they're reliable or not and don't really know what I should be searching for. "paying people off to cause violence" isn't exactly very precise. I'm sorry if I come of as a nitwit, because I am (see my explanation in my post above).

Hey, at least he isn't talking about putting Clinton in jail any more, it's a start. You'll get through these eight years best if Trump doesn't keep a single one of his fascist promises.

avatar
Crosmando: Hopefully he'll be less interventionist in the Mid-East than Hillary would have been.
avatar
Vainamoinen: He promised to bomb every single inch of these countries and civilians be damned, torture the shit out of them, then suggested to take all their oil as compensation for the US war efforts.
Donald Trump didn't vote for the Patriot Act. He also didn't cover up the Benghazi debacle, exchange (and then lie about) exchanging government intel over an unprotected private server. Nor did he vote twice to support Congressional approval of using the military to invade two sovereign nations in the middle east. He did not support stripping Americans of their rights to private health care, gun ownership, nor did he sign off on the TPP, NAFTA, or GATT. And I haven't even mentioned anything yet of what Donald Trump did not do while he was not the first lady of Arkansas.

Trump might not have a lot going for him, but Hillary had EVERYTHING going against her. At the end of the line, it all just came down to basic math. America would rather accept the unknown and possible dangers of Trump than the continued death spiral of socialism, tax and spend policies, and media/government collusion of Clinton. And as they say in sports, 'any given Sunday.' This time the red ties won.

jamyskis: we have a living, breathing example of how a far-right government will tear itself and the country it governs apart that's not right on our doorstep.
"We" ? There is no "we". Each political club will have its own narrative on how successful or disastrous Trump's era will have been. Nothing is an exemple of anything anymore, no one cares about political sciences, everyone is happy with their own circle's infotainment source.

The assessments of USA's next four years, which will be used as references by each different "we", are already written. The only institutions that would aim for some objective methodologies are academic, and as such already pre-disqualified by the anti-intellectualism of political militants.

All I'm going to say is: Fuck Yeah. Clinton and her rotten crew need to be scraped off the floor and thrown in the trash.
Has construction work on the new great wall already started?

Is Hillary looked up yet?

Did the US already leave NATO?

Affordable health care already ended?

Taxes for the rich already eliminated?

Just some reminiscences from the very decent election battle this year. Well done voters. You gave the command of the nuclear missiles to the biggest nut job available. What can possibly go wrong.

I might still be affected by the outcome, so a bit more emotional posting than usual.

Interesting. So now that we've established and agreed that Trump and Putin are both de facto adherents of the same Ba'athist ideology as Saddam and al-Assad, it's probably worth pointing out that Ba'athism is itself is a form of National Socialism.

I'm not going to disagree that socially and ignoring the gross human rights violations for a moment, Iraq and Syria were much more stable and robust under Ba'athist rule, but that's more a happy coincidence with Ba'athist society being secular in nature, and secularism has always been the superior option. That's pretty much where the positive aspects end though. After all, National Socialism in Germany was also strongly secular, as was fascism in Italy. Franco's brand of fascism was a bit different in that it imposed Catholicism as the state religion, but that situation is a bit more complicated than it appears on the surface.

Edit: Just googling "Putin admires Saddam" produced some indications that, indeed, Trump admired Saddam.

God not help us with this! Trust me! God does not care about politics. It is humans, who makes political decisions!

I think, people just hate Hillary, her ways and her beliefs more than Trump. Trump is just business and reality show personal, who brings new things and better future his people. As i already told, TIME will tell, what kind of person Trump is as president.
There is no 'downward death spiral of socialism'. We are the least socialist country in the west, with the exception of government handouts towards large international corporations and banks, with grossly inadequate social funding for the poor and the middle class. We spend more money on our military than the next 10 largest countries combined, yet infrastructure around the country is failing.

This country is divided like never before though, with the divides growing starker each year, and its split with about 50% of the population on each side. I guess the only thing I can look forward too is that the conservative side will loose a lot of its power when baby boomers die, and that's a horrible thing to look forward to. This Trump victory was the last push of a dying generation. Americans 40 and under of every race and social-economic background were against Trump by a plurality.

Here's what I did hope for, for the US:

bernie-sanders-believe-candidate-stands-10-issues

This is what they get:

donald-trump-believe-candidate-stands-10-issues/

Though Bernie's points sound like heaven, It's not fully Heaven and Hell. At least there's some good things among what Trump wants: "In “The America We Deserve” Trump wrote that he supported universal health care and a system that would mirror Canada’s government-run health care service".

Doesn't cancel his xenophobism though.

And what I wonder is: how much of what Trump says are his true believes and how much is he just saying to attract voters with lesser ability to think things true? I wonder the same about our Geert Wilders.

Well, this is interesting news to wake up to. I get it that a lot of people will be furious and upset, but of one thing I am sure, and we should all seek comfort in that- while Trump might not have deserved to win, Hillary sure as hell deserved to lose.

Anyway, as the Hitchhikers Guid says- Don't Panic! It's not the end of the world, who knows how it will turn out in the long run. Buy some games maybe, some point & clicks to calm your nerves, and let's just watch how it goes...
Also, are there any Canadians here that would be willing to sponsor my family to move to your beautiful country? I live in Minnesota, so I'm close to you already. I could be there in less than 2 hours.

This is a historic moment. For the first time an American multimillionaire will move into a public house previously occupied by a black family.
