jacobmarner: I recommend Chessmaster 9000. Don't try anything newer than that - the newer chessmaster suddenly became dumbed down.

Chessmaster 9000 can do all the stuff you ask for. It is from 2004 and still the best IMO.

It used to be on GOG but no more.... :(

ZFR: Ah, I know it's not on my "must" list, but I did mention free...
Ahh I missed that point. I focused my attention on the bullet points.

ZFR: ... Nope. The left and right arrow keys work for this. Very convenient :)
Ah cool, I had no idea :)

pablodusk: Did you look at ChessPad already?
Spent more time with it and can confirm it's great. Plus you can use engines on it, so it can be used to play against computer opponents should I need it.
That ChessPad 2 program's website says that you can "Use chess engines (Winboard/UCI) for playing and analysis". Does this mean that if you load in a chess engine that you can play against it? So Human vs Computer? Or does the chess engine only do the analysis and so it is only for Human vs Human?

You can play against them too. Tried it out and it works.

IronArcturus: GOG really needs more chess games. Is there a popular 3D chess game that's been made recently?
I'm gonna re-ask this one.
