The "Responsibilities" section claims the person will be "preparing ... offers to get the worldwide rights to distribute ... games on GOG.com. AAA day-1 releases and indie gems alike!" We still haven't quite figured out what GOG means when they say "AAA" though, have we?

Isn't it games with three A's in the title? Like "surgeon simulAtor AnniversAry edition" or "treAsure Adventure gAme", for example. GOG has quite a lot of those.

EDIT: 147, to be exact.

AAA is a term attached to Big budget games from large studios you know your Dragon Ages, your Far Cry's, Your Elder Scrolls, ect. I personally wish them the best of luck on that though since getting companies like EA, Rockstar, Ubisoft to not want to have some "security blanket" that will protect them from the big bad pirates and allow them some control is like trying to convince Vince Macmahon he's not a formerly roided up, coked out out of touched promoter or if you prefer it's like trying to get Microsoft to stop stealing everyone else's ideas. Since really the big publishers have shareholders and investors and they are the single most unintelligent pack of twits you may ever the possible misfortune of meeting, they are the type of people who think they are the smartest guys in the room because they got money and in a sense sure but honestly they tend to be as smart as your average drug dealer, pimp, mob boss, carny or con man.

But eh I wish GOG the best of luck, I mean things eventually worked out for Valve and Steam in that regard.
So that's what it means!

No wonder those guys over at the corporate offices kept yelling at me when I asked them for a tow.

This could be a game changer for us.

He's going to need some serious personality.
The funny thing is that a lot of this relies on the success of Galaxy. Most AAA publishers will use it or require it, while many users are going to try to avoid it completely. So team blue will have to allow publishers to just update Galaxy and then put the parts up themselves since few will want to cooperate.

And that person getting hired is going to have to work out deals to allow them to do this while being a community scapegoat as well taking all of the backlash for compromising on GOG's principles and yada yada. Good luck to the sucker. ^^

Why should the publishers care about Galaxy? The upload of patches shouldn't be different for them regardless of whether Galaxy is available or not. Since we meanwhile have regional pricing at GOG and still not a big load of AAA games, isn't it the lack of DRM that keeps them away?

I doubt Galaxy is ever going to be "required"/mandatory outside of Multiplayer since the entire point of Galaxy is every single part of it is 100% optional, you don't want to download your games through it, you don't., you want to only use it as a downloader you can, you don't want achievements, community integration, ect. you can turn all of that off and I doubt GOG will really be that stupid to change that just to net some big name titles, since it will hurt them in the end more then anything. Sure you got those big name titles but you pissed off your most loyal users and those who wouldn't care about being bound to a client really don't want to add another mandatory client to their system on top of the three or five they got now.

So yeah the games will make use of the clients feature but unless GOG goes off the deep end we don't have to use any of them.

Because publishers have already not released content or patches on GOG (or in a timely manner) just because Galaxy wasn't available. I don't expect them to change and I do expect GOG to allow them to do whatever as long as AAA titles get added. Like a person breaking beer glasses after each drink, GOG will let them and clean it up. They'll let publishers be messy and fill in the gaps themselves for the non-Galaxy users just to keep big titles on the catalog.

That's what I was implying. I'm sure it'll be very amusing to see what other things they don't wanna do and will get away with. :P
Soooooo....will the winning candidate get game keys and other perks? =P

You seem rather cynical. :P

Those tend to be quite clever. It's part of their job. :P
Sounds bothersome, however, I accept the job.

When do I get paid?
