Today is a great day for all of gamers around the Internet.

GOG.COM has partnered with LinusTechTips, the most loveable - and clumsiest - Tech Channel on Youtube to create the Ultimate Gaming Machine and, you guessed it, it’s actually a PC.

Check this: the monstrosity features a 6-core Ryzen 5 3600 processor, a whopping 32GB of Corsair LPX RAM and no less 1.5 Terabytes filled with more than 450 DRM-free games from GOG.COM! A portion of the best games contained on that super-duper machine are listed right here. You’re in luck! Some are on sale right now!

Who is LinusTechTips, you’re asking? LTT is one of the most influential and entertaining tech channel on the internet. LinusTechTips makes videos about all the things you love: Games, computers, devices and other cool tech from the past, present and future.

You can check the video right here and let them know that you loved it!
What the ... ?

I was only able to watch 3 seconds of the video that Gog linked . Annoying voice .

* blocks LinusTechTips's channel *
I'm not a huge fan of this Youtube channel but I think it was one the best place to promote GOG :)

clarry: I feel like my two-year-old desktop with Ryzen 7 1800X is more ultimate than that thing. What makes it a monstrosity? By the specs it sounds like a very typical desktop gaming machine.
Perhaps they meant it was "Ultimate" for its size (?)
This is a fantastic way to promote GOG.com ... well done!

trusteft: Stopped watching Linus videos years ago, very full of himself, very annoying and just straight out lying (back then, I don't know about now). I remember him talking about a mouse and how it's the best mouse blah blah blah and it's the one he uses blah blah blah, and a few days later he showed his home PC or something (I can't remember now) and surprise surprise he had another (worn out) mouse.

That was the last straw. I felt disgusted and never watched him again.

BUT, always nice to see more games on sale, so yeah!
I dont really watch his channel for advertisment placements
i watch it it for tips, Tricks, crazy Hardware testing (buying parts from china)
whenever he reccomend people to buy something or saying something is the best Hardware i gennrerally just ignore it.
They are just gonna drop the system. Linus does that. He drops things. It's a bit weird choice to use Ryzen 5 3600 though and pair it with 32GB of RAM. It should've been at least 3600X. It has a higher boost clock and games love higher clocks. 12 threads, it's fine. I have that on my aging 5820K running at all core 4.5GHz and it's still damn fast even for brand new games at 144Hz. Again, I'd pick CPU model that boosts the highest, because games benefit from that the most.

3600 and 3600X are basically the same chip, except for the stock cooler. With the $50 price difference between them, you can get a good aftermarket cooler for the 3600 and have the same performance as the 3600X, and also lower temps and less noise.

AMD Ryzen 5 3600 vs. 3600X, Is The 'X' Worth It? - Hardware Unboxed review.
"no less 1.5 Terabytes filled with more than 450 DRM-free games from GOG.COM!"

I'm afraid to say I can confirm that sounds about right. Have to go now, addiction counseling.
Linus is funny. Annoying, clumsy, and EXTREMELY opinionated. That stuff doesn't make his stuff less worth watching, but more, I'd say. I've actually learned quite a bit from his channel.

gamesfreak64: I wached a number of linus's videos, they are very informative and give some good tips.

Anyway , Nice offer but why Ryzen only ? Intel might be more expensive but i stick to Intel, it's my 1st choice, never had any hardware problems, and the i7 9700K is also pretty impressing, and it might be more expensive.

Spectrum_Legacy: Well Linus was all pro-Intel not that long ago. Influencers are like a flag...it all depends where the wind blows from. Mainstream slowly shifted towards Ryzens and no matter how hard you push a brand on your yt channel, after a while people start to wonder why even your grandma bought Ryzen system instead of an Intel and you have to adjust, else you become redundant.

Personally I wouldn't touch Intel even if it costed the same as AMD's equivalent just for the sheer amount of security vulnerabilities in recent months and copious amount of shady practices in not so distant past. Get ready for marketing campaign from Intel though, they've set aside $3bn for advertisement, sponsorship, bribes, etc, just like in the past. Both are corporations, but I want them to compete in tech and r&d, not via adds and influencers. We, the end users, have nothing to gain from add-wars.
Well until Intel goes bankrupt i stick with Intel , i did notice Intel has loads of processors, and many arent available anymore , as far as i know i7 is quite expensive and i just noticed a game that looks very simple , but does require an i7, i cant find the store page on GO so i cant reply and ask if the requirements are wrong...

The game is: n The Shadows
this must be a mistake i guess :D i7

Anyway i wil try to find the page here on GOG and reply in that topic.

unpopular opinion ahoy!

i don't like ltt.

or, better put, i've grown to loathe them over the years.

it's now just sponsor after sponsor and "buy our merch!" plugs that are just jammed in everywhere and aren't fun to watch.

why gog couldn't just sponsor the video, i don't know. [so you end up with a mishmash of merchandising, sponsorship and gog. it's a mess.]

i managed to gag my way through the video, though. it's an ok advertisement for an iffy machine. and an iffy advertisement for gog. as much as i did not like the streaming initiative from several years ago, [it focused too much on big streamers when it could have helped smaller channels much more] that at least feels more "on brand" for gog. working with creators to showcase actual games and gameplay rather than, "we built this machine and my god! these games aren't fun."

so, eh. in my books, it wasn't much of a success.

on the plus side:

this finally moved me to add ltt to my blocklist of youtube creators. thanks, gog ;)

I understand GOG has to beat the marketing drum, but a 6-core CPU and 32 gig of RAM are a "monstrosity" ???
(o.O)???

I seriously had to check if the current year is really 2019 and not still 2009...

Standard mid systems are 8core and 16GB with a GTX 1080 so yeah a 12 thread (yeah dubs) 32GB of 3200 RAM and its a lopro system with a MP600 SSD. They are also giving the best gaming input there is XBOX yum, the RTX 2060RTX SUPER is a fantastic choice, this is wicked as hell and the Noc Air Cooler is fantastic.

side note this is the sexiest system i have ever seen <3

also GOGREPO.PY yeah BOI <3 <3 Works on Windows like CHAMP! Python 3 baby <3 <3 When your rocking over 500 games you need automation!

[...snip...]
"Monstrosity" implies it is something extraordinary or special. 6 CPU cores and 32 GB RAM are anything but extraordinary/special in these days. Just because it may deviate slightly from some statistic mean does not make it unusual in any way. ;-)

They called it like that because for its size, it's quite a powerful system. Most people still buy their systems with 16 GB of RAM, and my guess is that more than two thirds of GOG's users have a weaker CPU than the Ryzen 5 3600.
