I don't know, if this is worth an entry in the community wishlist. But it bothers* me, that more and more often downloads are not categorized the right way.

For example, if you take Planescape Torment (Vanilla), you find the russian localization for Windows and Linux as Goodies, instead of Game Downloads. The same with the new Metal Slug games: You find the Windows installer under "Game Downloads", whereas the OSX and Linux downloaders are listed under "Goodies".

Gog, please keep your downloads clean!

* I am using gogrepo.py to download all my files. While i want to have all german and english downloaders and the goodies, i do not need the russian or other localizations
What is under Goodies section, is not supported and offered 'as-is'. That's the main difference from Game Downloads.

Is that also why DLC are often found under 'Linux' headings? Example:

Pillars of Eternity - Linux - DLC
Pillars of Eternity: Pre-Order Bonus Item and Pet Windows installer, English
Pillars of Eternity: Kickstarter Item Windows installer, English
Pillars of Eternity: Kickstarter Pet Windows installer, English
Pillars of Eternity: The White March - Part I Windows installer, English
Pillars of Eternity: The White March - Part II Windows installer, English
Pillars of Eternity: Pre-Order Bonus Item and Pet Mac OS X installer, English
Pillars of Eternity: Kickstarter Item Mac OS X installer, English
Pillars of Eternity: Kickstarter Pet Mac OS X installer, English
Pillars of Eternity: The White March - Part I Mac OS X installer, English
Pillars of Eternity: The White March - Part II Mac OS X installer, English
Pillars of Eternity: Pre-Order Bonus Item and Pet Linux installer, English
Pillars of Eternity: Kickstarter Item Linux installer, English
Pillars of Eternity: Kickstarter Pet Linux installer, English
Pillars of Eternity: The White March - Part I Linux installer, English
Pillars of Eternity: The White March - Part II Linux installer, English

This is a pretty odd way of sorting files, and isn't remotely intuitive. If the customer doesn't already know how the files are categorized beforehand, they'd be pretty confused, I'd think.

Perhaps an overhaul of the categories may be in order? Of course, this is the GOG DLer links I'm looking at, and I guess those aren't even on the radar for you guys anymore.

No, they are not.

Well it's good to know that you're still looking after your non-Galaxy customers :(

The Gog Downloader hasn't been officially supported now for years... we're lucky to still get links at all really.

Have to agree with what adliabooks said. Even though I don't use Galaxy (I've never been successful in getting it to work for me) and prefer the DLer, GOG did warn us long ago that the DLer is no longer officially supported. I'm happy they're still providing links (although I've a feeling this is going to end soon), but I do wish they could spend a few minutes to sort out the miscategorization on the pages.

GOG Downloader still works better that Galaxy in certain situations (e.g. frequent disconnection). I only use Galaxy for downloading offline installers though.

You and adaliabooks are both right - I suppose I was a bit snarky as I only ever use the GOG Downloader which up to now seems to work for all my games. I hate all the stuff happening with GOG lately and the short, sharp answer from Thiev just rubbed me up the wrong way. Wish I could delete my post now but it's a bit late...next time I'll count to ten before posting :)

No worries. I've been a long-time fan and supporter of GOG and have taken a lot of their decisions and changes in stride, always giving them the benefit of the doubt. But I'm also at a point where I'm becoming completely disillusioned with them. I was ready to pack it in if they didn't back down on the Galaxy-included installers. Still not entirely happy with them on their 'compromise'. So count me among the jaded crowd now as well.

A lot of former Downloader users have moved on to browser download + download manager (such as DownThemAll! for Firefox), which seems to be an adequate alternative in most respects.
Of course, a lot of us do fine with just the plain old, un-"managed" browser downloads, too. : )
