dedoporno: That alone and in itself seems like a janky reason, in my opinion. With Joppo being effectively the default lynch it would be a poor scum play to hope it gets derailed or foiled in any way yet again with so many alive players.
And if Joppo gets lynched, flips scum, then Lift looks better in some ways(he is on the wagon and also being/acting hesitant about Joppo being hammered right now, BEFORE any potential future flip).

Again, Lift might not be scum, but Lift is a clever player & some of his posts seem "off" so I still have my suspicions.

dedoporno: He has gotten NKed early a lot. I don't know about being lynched early but it doesn't sound right so I think you're mistaken.
Yeah, my bad....yer right.

nmillar: Okay, so we're mostly focused on Joppo because he chose to hammer early - is that the only reason, or have people got other reasons to be voting him at this stage? I don't think there's too much to read into people who jumped on the wagon, as scum don't really have any reason to push a quick vote through, as they still require another successful townie lynch tomorrow to end the game (assuming Joppo is town of course).
For me, Joppo has done several lamist sounding posts.

Also remember/note: He hammered early when we had many IRL days left to spare on D2. Might be nothing, but I feel it's worth noting.

As for reasons to do so as scum: If the game is going bad for town(such as now when we're down several town and haven't hit one scum yet, and all scum are still alive) maybe the scum team might've found it worthwhile to risk such a move to get rid of another town(in this case micro)?

----

As for D4....To ALL: Nmillar brings up a point worth noting(knew we were bad off, but didn't know we were so close to losing)...since that is the case I think a NL might be a good idea on D4, and then we try our best to hit scum on D5.

Sound good?
(I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on the above proposal)

This of course depends on which way Joopa (or whoever else ends up with the noose around their neck) flips.

If we lynch town today and tomorrow, we lose;
If we lynch scum today, then we lose 1 town at night, so we have 5 town, 1 scum tomorrow, which affords us an extra mis-lynch, which would leave 3 town, 1 scum on the final day (or 4 town, 1 scum if we go down the NL route, which then give us yet another mis-lynch / NL until we eventually get 2 town, 1 scum).
avatar
dedoporno: Although I do agree with the notion that it's likely the scum team was split on the D1 wagons and they didn't end up voting together
Did this sort of analysis ever work? In a previous game?

It's my experience scum want to appear as Town so they pretend to be scumhunting. When they decide to get on a wagon the question they always ask themselves is "is it normal for Town!me to be on this wagon?" and never "is my partner(s) voting for this wagon or not?"

I was voting him yesterday over they way he ended D1 and his subsequent explanations for it. His quickhammer on Micro didn't made it look any better, on the contrary.

We should definitely NL before the game ends no matter what. If Joppo somehow is Town that's Tomorrow. If not it can be a little later on (I like to skip on 4, for example :)) but I won't mind in doing it right away, either.

I'm not sure I follow what you mean here as you're partially quoting a line that was contextual to Pooka. Do you mean in this case they may have thought "this is going to be a mislynch obviously so we better stay away while our work is done for us and keep our hands clean"?
avatar
GymHenson: and ZFR seems to get lynched early on in general(if I recall correctly).
I never got lynched early in a game with you.

In fact, I never got lynched at all in a game with you.

What are you talking about?
EDIT: OK, I see dedo already addressed the above. Ignore it please.

No. I mean in general the analysis of the type "of the previous day's wagon, X scum have to be on it and Y off it". Did that type of analysis ever work?

To be honest I find it, in a general case, only marginally more useful that arranging the names in alphabetical order and saying one scum has to be in the first half, and another in the second.

I note that you didn't give a hard answer on this. So, if Joppo is lynched and flips scum, do you think we should go for a NL on D4 or no? Also, if Joppo somehow flips town, same question again.

(sorry for being nitpicky, but i'd really like to hear your input and everyone else's on this sometime before end of D3, if possible)

Side query: Joopa? Is that a mish mash of Joppo and Pooka?

Wouldn't it be better to NL on D4 and reduce the player pool, making it a bit more likely we'd hit scum on D5?

I don't know about ever, it's just what my gut feeling is in this game where I know there are two scum. Like I said before it looks unrealistic to me that Trent's lynch was exclusively Town-based but I also don't think it would be wise for both scum to jump on it as there was obviously enough Town to cover the majority needed. I don't know, it's just seems like the most likely scenario. I'm not saying that's in fact the case, obviously it can be any of the three options.

I don't have a preference anymore as I don't have any other strong suspicions to lean on. As for the likelihood ZFR is your man but I'm not sure if that matters a whole lot as we have the numbers on our side and we win as a group no matter what. But if you feel like speed-running then I don't see why not do it Tomorrow. Fingers crossed we don't have to do it Tomorrow, though.

Right. Both Joe and nmillar have dropped by. Nothing terribly exciting so if there isn't anything else anyone would like to talk about I, personally, am ready to move on now.

Me too. I'll wait till tomorrow in case Joe wants to add something then vote around midday.
