I wouldn't even think about doing it any other way.

Hunter65536: Even with 8 votes required to lynch? I dunno to me that makes sense for a 11 player game where its 6 or less to lynch, only talking from gut feeling perspective though
I have no idea.
I only know once upon time research was done and it indicated those are the most common spots for mafia on wagons and since then it became sort of universal truth.
No clue how it differs for games with various amount of players.
I would guess there is not much difference as those are overall safe spots for mafia to stay.

Taking a quick look at small sample of last game's votecounts (looking at wagons that had at least 3 votes listed in votecounts):
Micro was second on Joe's wagon, then he was no. 2 on nmillar, Lift then replaced him as no. 2 there when he unvoted.
I then was #3 on trent with Lift being #7, the hammer.
D2 Micro was #3 on nmillar, Lift #1 on blotunga wtih me being 6th, the hammer (hi, GH).
D3 Lift was #3 on nmillar, with Micro being 4th and me hammer but there it was speed hammer.

So not sure if it would tell me anything.
3 times D1 we were no. 2, once no. 3 and once no. 7. D2 we were once 3rd, once 1st and once the hammer.
D3 we were 3, 4 and 5 but under different circumstances.
So I think I could spend those 10 minutes in more productive way. :-)

Mostly it has noting to do with my original point that 3rd spot is usually one of those considered suspicious and I don't know if ZFR meant it that mafai would be aware and avoid it or if they hust wouldn't do it as it is notplace where mafia vote. So I don't even know why I did that. :-)

Vitek: snip
huh, interesting post-game analysis, thanks for the info!
(yeah, yeah, i'll shut up again)
Thanks for the bump.

blotunga: We can hardly lynch him, can we?
Why not?

Funny.

JoeSapphire and I were both modkilled in that game. =D

Pretty much.

It's like asking about roles being rolefishing. Everyone says it's scummy and I agree, but because it's so scummy I haven't yet seen a scum do it. It's usually a Townie who asks a question about roles and scum are just waiting to pounce on him for "rolefishing".

dedoporno: Noted.
Also be ready to note the following as well**: Drink.....your.....Ovaltine

(**=Just you.....and maybe Flub.....and maybe Joe....but no one else! o.0)

avatar
dedoporno: All players are not reading the rules and are forgetting them? This is a definitely an alternative truth.
Yeah, it is suspicious.

I find Pooka's explanation to maybe work for one of them possibly...but both? I mean what are the odds?

Vitek: *my stuff*
So many typos ;_;

You just made me waste half an hour reading it.

I see.
I don't think it is something scum don't do anymore and only mafia uses it to accuse townies but I get what you mean now.

Hunter65536: Whom is this addressed to? I did not understand this statement with regard to context of the post
avatar
ZFR: blotunga. I wish he's stayed on Vote#3 longer. I was curious if anyone would accuse him of being scum because of it.
I could accuse him for the heck of it if you want and it'll make you feel better. :)
(Of course I suspect everyone but myself in most games, so that wouldn't likely mean much)

++++++++++++++++

@Vitek-Post 172: Typos? Or signals for your scum buddies? o.0 ;)

Yeah, I don't think it's 100% true, but it would have been interesting to see.

I just thought of something too. If scum have D-chat, and given that communicator role there is a chance they do, another possible explanation is that scum!blotunga put the third vote and someone wanred him "No! Vote#3 is soooo scummy. Remove it".
My browser crashed on me when I was posting my last post and struggling with it and I thought about people who complained how the forum is seriously outdated and in dire need of renovation.
That was some 10 years ago and it is not any different than it was back then.
Bess whipped her tail with anticipation when she heard her name.

Sorry everyone for not being active. I've been reading everything but I didn't know how to react. So far the game is going way different than I initially anticipated. I thought this would be roleplaying. It isn't.

Most people here seem to know each other for a while now and to be honest, I am not understanding half of the conversations. Probably because of the MAFIA jargon but also because there are lots of past references, which I have no idea of. You know these couple-games where the wife says "flower" and the husband says "Paris" and they win the game because they have been playing for too long. And I stand here trying to see the connection.

And there is lots of writing. So my mind usually goes to deep slumber after I finish reading. Trying to cope with what I read instead of finding an appropriate reply.

I am also a very "safe" person. I didn't want to write something wrong, especially after a few people made fun of my "fluff" writing.

Please bear with me. I'll try to be more active.

Today on "This old forum" we see a prime example of art deco forum software...complete with dings and dents and whatnot.

Will we be able to turn this crud heap of a forum into something usable? We will see......so stay tuned.

Fwiw I liked your fluff writing :)
(and I suspect others did as well. Btw fluff posting means flavor/story posting....it is a descriptive term for that style of posting only)

Engerek01: Please bear with me. I'll try to be more active.
One thing to note: When you decide to do so you need to pick someone you suspect and vote for them, before deadline anyways....if enough people vote for one player they are "lynched" and removed from the game, and we then wait to see if they were scum or not.

Other than that, look for things that seem off to figure out whom to suspect and/or vote for.....that should be enough or now.

And please continue with the delightful fluff posting....it is nice to see and read. :)

Even though there isn't anything in this post about others it actually oozes a concern which feels like it's coming from a Town mindset so it's a good initial post. Keep going and don't let game scare you - those references and meta stuff based on past experiences are somewhat helpful but not essential. Also, there is the benefit that your view is not yet influenced by said past experiences so you have the chance to form objective opinions.

Engerek01:
Great, we're all accounted for.

I'm not sure what I could recommend you.
Being lurky has its perks, but I think I've been lynched for it several times.
Being active has the downside that everything you write will be used against you by scum and town both.
So yea, it's a dangerous life we live.

unvote Engerek01

I wouldn't lynch a newbie on D1 anyway.
But I won't hold back later, as you could be scum as I was in my first game.
We shall see.
