GymHenson: Not to be improper and cast doubt....but that's convenient. o.0
I did originally mention this a few days ago.
avatar
dedoporno: Wat? He's suspicious because he isn't taking notes?? Lift has a bunch of things to frown upon and somehow you are picking up the most absurd ones to pick on...
Others are best at their read methods and pick up on their things, and I pick up on mine based on how I read/play.

To me, a careful veteran player like Lift, if town, would be the kind who takes notes(if a few at least), and is careful when voting. Something about a few of the things he's done recently, like that, feel "off" to me based on how I feel he would play. And as such, I suspect him?

That said, i'm at least trying: would you rather I not try to make many reads at all like games long ago? o.0

avatar
dedoporno: Let me give you a hint - it includes your read being wrong.
I have a hunch I may be right on this one....but i'll keep it in mind.

avatar
dedoporno: I already answered this at the very end of #592.
K...thanks for this.

avatar
dedoporno: Ummm...

Are you sure you said exactly that?

avatar
GymHenson: As phalo said, it'd be better for a potential cop to out scum!me (if I were scum) and get me out of the game. That, or wait till I inevitably got lynched.....which usually happens with me in a good number of games sometime after start of D2.
avatar
dedoporno: Maybe my reading comprehension is failing me...
Note I said a cop should out me, if I was scum...I didn't say HOW they should out me.

(Also I might've forgotten to go into detail with what I meant there as well)

(One last bump needed)

my name is magike catte: Ah, so you're in competition with dedo for Joe's attention?
That's how one gets cut.

It's perfectly fine to suspect him (I obviously do) but the reasons you bring up are at best reaching. Especially when there are better things to bark at him about.

Let me ask you something else. I've played here for I don't know how many years now. I think my first game was 22 or 24, somewhere there. I stopped taking notes ages ago. Am I scum?

Tell that to solipsism. ;)

And THIS is why I take notes...and should take more.

(All I remembered was that you went to a zoo or were planning to)

So, i'm sorry for forgetting some of the details of what you said. :)

Still, my request to the OP in that post remains unchanged....i'd like anyone(you or anyone else) to have a chance to claim if they get close to hammer.

(Another bump needed....to reply to dedo)
Bump.
Thanks :)

Better to you or better objectively?

Also what does it matter what I pick up on as long as I do my best to scum hunt and possibly hit scum while doing so?

avatar

I don't know...are you?

Point is, anyone could be possible scum outside of a town player knowing themselves to be town.....and so (in general) I look for things to suspect in every other player, and if I find any I latch onto them and use them to find scum....either by asking players about them, or asking others, or using the "odd"(to me) posts I find in other ways to find scum.

+++++++++++

That aside...to all: whether OP honors my request for a few hours extension or not we have very little time to come to a consensus. So people, what's/who's it gonna be?

I'd like to hear the top 3 people each player would be willing to vote for and lynch today(D2).

Mine are: NMillar/Catte/Lift

GymHenson: Replies to Catte and Nmillar:
Technically valid votes, but you're already voting Nmillar.

Careful what you bold.

Vote Count

blotunga 2 - Lift, gogtrial
nmillar 1 - GH
GH 1 - nmillar

Not voting - catte, phaolo, Micro, dedo, Vitek, blotunga

blotunga is closest at L-4

10 players. Takes 6 to lynch.

When you see a vote count, please make sure your name is against the correct person. Let me know if it isn't.

About 24hrs left.

GymHenson: Better to you or better objectively?
When it comes to not taking notes because you imagine they would be doing so, I'd say it's better objectively.

avatar
GymHenson: Also what does it matter what I pick up on as long as I do my best to scum hunt and possibly hit scum while doing so?
Getting a correct hit based on wrong reasons isn't really the definition of scum-hunting.

avatar
GymHenson: I don't know...are you?
I'm not but why in my case you don't know and in another case it tells you something? Have you ever been in a game with Lift, even one, where he stated that the way he plays as Town is to take notes so you can make the distinction this time around and base a judgement on that?

avatar

That I agree with in general. But I still feel that one should try to not point fingers for the wrong reasons or they won't be able to convey what they are going for to others. If they do want to do that.
avatar
GymHenson: @OP: I humbly request an extension of a few extra hours, so if NMillar is pushed close to lynch and wants/need to claim they can do so with more time on hand for such.
Oho
avatar
Lifthrasil: Fair enough. But for the third time: I still want a reply to the actually more relevant question I asked you:
So, why did you vote trent? You seem to be evading that question! Or am I 'reading too much into it' again?

Here, let me motivate you a bit to actually answer this time:
interrogatus blotunga
avatar
blotunga: I wasn't feeling like he was putting enough effort in his defense and somehow he felt off. Now we know it was mostly because of IRL.
I went back and at that point it didn't seem that trent needed to defend himself. To me it rather looked strange that he assumed that he would be the D1 lynch at that point. Not that he 'didn't put enough effort in his defense'. Also the way you worded it, half jokingly (but then sticking to it) rather feels in retrospect like you saw a weakness in trent, that you exploited. So yes, he felt off. But your casual way of voting him 'to give him what he wants' feels quite off too.

avatar
Lifthrasil: I really should start notes again. I didn't do that so far due to lack of time, but they really help!
avatar
GymHenson: A player like you isn't taking notes? Really? Was this a joke or are you really not bothering to take notes?
No, not a joke. Sometimes I take notes, sometimes I just play by gut feeling. Taking notes is more fun as scum (since you get to abuse what someone said ages ago) but more necessary as Town. However, I don't always have the time or investment to actually do that chore consistently. After all, I play for fun and also regular work comes first in terms of time investment.

avatar
blotunga: Lynch me and you'll find out.
Huh. And that from you? After you voted trent for making a similar statement? Isn't that a bit hypocritical?

avatar
GymHenson: Joe's not in the game anymore, pal. :)
avatar
my name is magike catte: It may surprise you to hear this, but we're not all figments of your imagination. Joe is a figment of my imagination.
Sorry, but you only imagined that! ;-)
Guys, I still have no idea about scum..
I'll probably join a wagon, maybe nmillar since he's always busy anyway..
avatar
GymHenson: Also, if I may query: Why is it that you and NMillar seem to post so close to one another?

(Y'all did that not too long ago as well & it seems....odd...if only a bit)
Oh by the way, nmillar is also a figment of my imagination.
@OP: Got the note on bolding....will keep it in mind and try to be more careful from now on.

dedoporno: Getting a correct hit based on wrong reasons isn't really the definition of scum-hunting.
1. A correct hit is still a correct hit.

2+3. This space intentionally left un-blank.

4. No matter if you agree with the methodology used or not, I am doing what I do to find (or hunt, in other words) scum....hence scum hunting.

avatar
dedoporno: I'm not but why in my case you don't know and in another case it tells you something?
Because you didn't make a point to mention that fact in the game in the way Lift did. You only brought your own non note taking up once I started honing in on Lift's lack of taking notes.

avatar
dedoporno: Have you ever been in a game with Lift, even one, where he stated that the way he plays as Town is to take notes so you can make the distinction this time around and base a judgement on that?
Tbh even if I had been in such a game and he had said similar I might've forgotten it.....so the answer is: I forget

The suspicion of that post bit by Lift was partly due to me trying to pick apart anything that seems suspect in order to find scum, and also partly due to a gut hunch...that being that veteran players like Lift would likely take notes each game to help their team win.

So when he said what he did, I latched onto it as I did and pursued it to see what I could find out.

avatar
dedoporno: That I agree with in general. But I still feel that one should try to not point fingers for the wrong reasons or they won't be able to convey what they are going for to others. If they do want to do that.
Noted....still, I think players should point as many fingers as they need to to find scum, and if players want to know why a player pointed said fingers they should simply ask why that player pointed that finger. :)

(Bump needed maybe)

Sorry for jumping to conclusions....I just sorta always assumed a player like yourself would be the type to carry around a notepad(digital or physical) and be taking copious notes on everything.

That said, I still find it odd, but my overall suspicion level re: you has dropped a wee bit.

I'd rather you vote for who you suspect and have a good reason to vote for.

Eh, I agree, but I've got nothing :\
So I can only help town by allowing some lynching.
Blotunga and you maybe feel less scummy than others at the moment, tho.
