trentonlf: My post 58 had nothing tied to it, not sure how you would link it to Vitek and Carradice. I truly wanted to know how to pronounce your name and I didn’t like the avatar changes as it was confusing.
Only to Carradice over the short detour through 202 where your post gets a revival without being an "official quote".

Vitek: Then, I can't speak for trent but from my side it certainly wasn't setup for anything.
@both of you:
My brain still hates me, so it kept nagging me about it until I posted it.
There was also post 679: "@Vitek. Please see the response to Trent. If you think it through you will notice a certain catch-22-ness about the whole thing."
None of this would make good argumentation for getting someone lynched though (especially with 24/7-chat). And the concious part of my brain had doubts about the relevance of those instances too.
You two definitely stayed low and watched town lynch each other. Good job.

@JoeSapphire
Quote from observer thread:
""please don't make me have to solve this... it's too much pressure and I've been wrong at every opportunity. Through absolutely nothing I have done every player and her gran thinks I'm town and at some point someone's going to notice that I keep saying really dodgy stuff and leading everyone wrong on everything and they're all gonna turn on me and I'm not going to have anything to say about it. Please. Don't make me have to work out this mess. I beg of you""
That's why my prayer didn't work, you thief! ;-)
Well, except for the "thinks I'm town" and leading anyone anywhere part , I guess. :-P

@all:
Please don't be offended, if I don't react to personal things being posted. I'm not too good with social interactions, so I stopped trying (for most part) some time ago. (At least I treat everyone equal? Well, I think I do, but I don't keep track.)
Bravo mafia, very well done! Thanks for an entertaining game there Pooka.

avatar
Pookina: Trent actually issued a nightkill order "in case of a mislynch" and chose Lift, but then I had already decided before that point that when they do get a mislynch, there was nothing stopping the mafia from attaining a majority and that was the logic for ending the game just like that. I did lampshade it in the ending flavor, though.
Ah I'm with Yogs. The game was already lost for town and won for mafia, but to not let the mechanics play out feels wrong.

I wasn't following the game very closely towards the end, why on earth was Flocke almost immediately lynched toDay? I would have expected a bit more caution and maybe the possibility of going for a no lynch.
avatar
Vitek: Thanks to everyone for playing and special thanks to those who have not completely changed their username and profile picture since the start of the game.
I waited until I was dead!
avatar
Pookina: I would like to up my game next time.
Bastard role madness. It's the only way to go.

@Trent: Amazing play! Really, superbly done.
Same to you, @Lift!

My reads were atrocious this game. Actually, come to think of it, they tend to always be atrocious. It almost made me glad to be out of the game, except that I never would've gone along in lynching Flocke, and am glad that I was right about that, at least.

@Flocke: Don't be sorry for anything. Scum specifically kept you around and targetted you for the mislynch, and you simply don't have the experience yet to stand up to that. Give it a couple more games, and you'll be a N1 target instead for your analytical play. :)

@Pooka: Thanks for hosting!

What for? The remaining players were all Regulars. No new information was to appear. That and there was literally nothing to change my mind on the matter. Both Trent and Lift were way Townier than Flocke in my eyes. To me it was a bigger surprise that Flocke wasn't scum than that Trent was. What would have been the point of no lynch exactly other than wasting more time?
What a great game Pooka. The flavor was an excellent read, the setting was interesting and innovative and the setup made for good chances for every team.

Congratulation to all mafiosos, especially Trent who played incredibly well. I guess it's true what they say that your style is indistinguishable as Town or Scum. And also to Lift who I'd never have guessed wasn't town.

@Joe and @Lift: both of you wanted to say something during the game but couldn't and asked to be reminded after the game. I can't find the posts now, tho.

@Flocke I don't see why you thought you had to be sorry for, either. You played well, in fact you fared better than a few seasoned players. Scum just played better than Town.
You may not have managed to be beyond suspicions, but honestly a lot of things that can influence that are out of your control. For example, receiving some PRs, or (not the case n this game) being chosen for a cop investigation. (In fact if a townie is chosen by the cop it usually means they are being suspected, in other words they probably aren't looking so townie) Dedo and Joe were soft-cleared based on PM wording that would have eluded several veterans.

Who was it talked me out of suspecting Trent all game??

JoeSapphire: Who was it talked me out of suspecting Trent all game??
Ah, there you are...

WRONG!
@Lift - was your win condition to stay alive until one of the major factions wins?
avatar
yogsloth: Should I be "that guy" though and point out that the survivor hasn't actually won? With a Townie elimination there's technically 1 M, 1 T, 1N, and trent has to choose a night kill to determine if Lift wins or not....
I thought it's game over as soon as mechanically it's impossible for Mafia not to win.

I mean if it was Night starting with T-T-M then, barring protective roles, it's game over. A mod would end this immediately, right? Or should he wait for Mafia to do their kill first?

You wanted to be reminded. Of something. I forgot which, but I haven't forgotten that you wanted to be reminded.

That was actually my line of thinking as well, and I went with it based on prior precedent too: one game ended just like that. Can't remember which though.

dedoporno: @Lift - was your win condition to stay alive until one of the major factions wins?
From the admin thread:

Survivor's wind condition
"WIN CONDITION: You win if you're still alive by the end of the game."

For me "end of game" is the moment one of the factions wins.

Mafia's win condition:
"WIN CONDITION: You win if at least one Mafia member is alive and all other players are killed (or if nothing can prevent the same)."

So, the moment you lynched Flocke, the "nothing can prevent the same" was fulfilled and at that moment Mafia won.
The moment Mafia won, is the moment the game ended.
The moment the game ended, and Lift was still alive, is the moment Lift won.

Great game! Thank you everyone and thank you, Pooka, for hosting!

Initially, I tried to be a bit scummy and a bit towny, but then at some point, when dedo and Joe were more or less confirmed, I thought 'screw it, scum have plenty of better targets now, now I can start to scumhunt for real'.

Great game, trent! I wasn't as sure that you were town as I pretended to be, but still, your scum play really is indistinguishable from your town play!

I'm surprised, barely anyone looked your way. And when someone did, it was already end-of-game. It felt like you played both Town and Mafia to leave you alone.

Thank you for the reminder. But I have forgotten what I wanted to say. It was something about open vs closed setups and their impact on balance. ... Perhaps it will come back to me.

Yes. Flavour wise I was just there to steal a valuable antique clock. I didn't care about politics but would use the distraction by either the coup or the execution of the rebels to make off with my prize.

For a while I considered lurking a bit to achieve non-visibility. But that would have been boring. My low presence on D1 was due to RL and other than that I enjoy playing too much to lurk for strategic reasons. Still, being neutral is a difficult position. Very interesting to play but I still prefer being scum! ;-)
