supplementscene: How do you think reading the set up helps town specifically, roles aside?
For one, it helps town not make bad assumptions on what all could be happening.

Not reading the page, and seeing one night kill, town might assume "the serial killer either doesn't exist or has 1 night bulletrproof", while we've now established that there's many more possibilities.

Not reading the page, town might assume that "there can be 2 kills per night", while a careful reader might discover that there's a (very small, but not impossible) chance of as many as 5 kills.

Have I made my point?

Vote Scene.

gogtrial34987: Is that a frustration vote, or do you see this coming from scum-scene?
Yes.

It's really frustrating, but the last time I saw him saying things that were wildly out of tune with the publicly available setup, he was scum. He didn't get lynched until he proved he was lying by not eating a mod-kill.

Why is it necessary to ask others analysis of a player rather than form your own independently?

Hmm.

That was #55, where I was on his case early on since I knew for certain that he was mafia, so I have some trouble seeing his behaviour back then from a neutral perspective. Here, I was slightly town-reading him for the way he argued his suspicion of me. But yeah, ignoring the setup information does tend to be a scum-tell for him, doesn't it?

@scene: For rereading purposes, are you able to list offhand which regular mafia (non-SH) games you were town in?

I asked Bookwyrm to clarify his vote, so he'll have to commit to an explanation now, and won't have wiggle room later on to only then "clarify" his vote.

Beyond that, I tend to frequently ask pretty much everybody for their thought process and analysis, so I can try to recognize if it doesn't stay consistent over time, and because I'm just a single flawed human being, with historically pretty bad reads. If I understand what others see, I can augment my own reads with that information - which becomes particularly useful if they aren't around later in the game to help clarify what they meant originally.

Bookwyrm627: I've underlined a relevant portion of my post.

Questions to the mod in the game thread are fine, but don't be surprised if people question whether you are legit asking the mod something or whether you're trying to mess with player's heads (depending on the question). Just put everything relevant to the game in a thread created for the game (which thread(s) are open/closed will be noted by the mod) or in a PM to a mod.

Fight Club, Rule #1, etc.
Still, I haven't played in awhile and skimmed the OP rules/post(dumb me, I know)...also OP said it was ok(I will take your advice and use mainly PM though).

You seem honest, though, so I drop my vote

Unvote Bookwyrm627

PookaMustard: I didn't even know Micro was going to be absent until tomorrow. He's currently on a Discord Secret Hitler game. Anyway, in the previous Mafia game, he was a flailing townie, despite his impressive performance in the game before that. With that said, I'm interested in seeing how he'd react to this RVS vote.
Secret HITLER? Is that even a thing? Seems odd given current year.

=================================
BTW to all playing: This game has me keeping my reply/don't edit game on point....as I have to make sure I copy-paste replies into one reply box and not do each within short order of each other to avoid edits.....truly helps one to keep their head straight/focused, it does.

1) The other player may point out something you missed.
2) It may reveal something about the other player.

Let me try speaking a little more clearly: Don't ask questions outside of the the game thread, unless you are asking the mod via PM. For example, don't ask in the admin thread. Asking a question in the game thread is perfectly fine, but be advised that players may react to it. If you have access to a QT (ex. Mason or Mafia), then you can ask questions in that thread (assuming it is open for posting; mafia QT's are generally closed during a Day phase); the mod will indicate when a given QT is open or closed.

supplementscene: SPF are also right that ZFR probably used random.org - although that isn't necessarily true. Just because he does it in game doesn't mean out of game he might enjoy constructing roles in a certain manner.
My guess that he used random.org is based on what I know of ZFR, but whatever he used, the role distribution was randomised because that's how C9++ works.

Thanks and that's what I meant....asking mods via PM various questions about the game/etc.

Again thanks for the info

JoeSapphire: Oh yeah... there can be between 2 and 4 mafias and between 0 and 1 serial killers.
But I'm probably right anyway

But who do you think the mafia are?
There was a term... I think it came up in the last game? For when someone confirms themselves by saying something that is stupid and wrong?
But then you must have read that too... so is this LAMIST?

JoeSapphire: Oop. right you are.

Yup, we should have policy lynched him straight away for that instead of wasting a day. If he had been town he'd have been modkilled/stumped anyway so we should have just gone for it.

Sorry about the double post. My brain is all over the place at the moment.

As an aside, is the forum being super slow for anyone else?

I have pages not appear(when new pages are made due to going over the page post limit I set) when new replies/posts are made sometimes. Also other times(twice lately) I clicked the purchase button and the circle circled around but nothing happened and I had to repush it to buy the game I wanted.

Site sale overload perhaps?
I have danced all morning. Now I shall vote all evening.

Or something like that.

JoeSapphire: I'm gonna say... Microfish, Carr and SirPrimalform.
I be scum? This be news to me.

Vote supplementscene because walls of text are the worst.

So only #54 and #56, looks like. Both show (from skimming) scene being confused about mechanics from a town PoV, but both also show him being actively interested in (asking questions and hypothesizing about) the mechanics/rules, something which was completely missing in #55 and #57, in which he was scum.
He started off #57 playing quite strongly, which made me doubt (doesn't seem like current scene is at all like the early scum-scene from #57), but then his changed play there caused him suspicion. Also quite noteworthy: in #55 he doubted mod information (flub's innocent child reveal), which feels similar to his doubt about ZFR's random setup.

I'm not completely sold yet, but feels solid enough to:

vote scene

pre-post edit: @agentcarr: that is worded like an RVS vote. Are you aware that Bookwyrm already placed a serious vote on scene? (And me as well now.)

Yep.
