Do you really think that you will get something done with all this rage you're holding inside?
Don't know how old are you, but seriously if you're older than 15, you're either naive and don't know how the world works, or you just made this thread so you can vent the rage you're holding. GOG has nothing to do with patch releases, so if you really want to vent at someone you should do that at the developers, not on a gaming platform. Like everyone said, GOG is a DRM-free platform first and foremost, so I don't understand why you even made this thread if you already knew how Steam is compared to GOG.

Now, I'll go back and play my un-patched games.

Caine123: yeah some will say i am overreacting but im not only here on the boards but on various game/steam boards and many told me to get e.g. PILLARS OF ETERNITY for steam, why? cause GOG sucks at delivering patches etc. in time!

and yes, i have this game now and have to wait for the new patch?!?!?? WTF?!?!? yeah it's drm-free, nice, but NEW GAMES ARE HERE TO BE PLAYED and not watched or waited..... UNACCEPTABLE!

Divinity, Wasteland 2 and now Pillars of Eternity...............

your service needs to be improved ASAP! and you already seem to loose customers cause of this issue as many i read preferred the steam version asap... with a better service you would have maybe more customers and now im an angry customer too and wont buy a new game from you again!
you have been here 3 years
well 2 year
and racked up 40 rep and you still dont know how it works ?

you are barking up the wrong tree go and annoy the developers and the publishers
they are the ones that are releasing the patches
they are the ones that are releasing a broken product on the market

gog is neither developer nor publisher they are a digital service
a shop
nothing more
and they can only release a patch when given a patch

and how dare they test the patch and run it to the wring to make sure it actually works and the customer gets a satisfying product
how dare they !
I don't agree with OP's tone, but the patching situation here really is abysmal and (sadly) leads me to use Steam more than GOG for non-old games. Does GOG really test the patches? Wasn't Omerta broken after a bad patch (just read the reviews)? I remember reading that the same was true of the original Blackguards here after the Untold Legends DLC.

It seems to me that a better way of doing things would be leaving the original download intact and releasing patches as soon as they come along so that even if there's a horrible bug, people can always reinstall the working version. Plus, that way GOG would be flaunting the whole "you can make backups and restore earlier versions" benefit of DRM-free.
well thats why tyhey are working on galaxy
easier download and auto patches

if they actually release the damn thing before 2020 is another matter

That's never gonna happen; "20/20" starts in 45 minutes.
The Steam generation with their patch auto updates is so damn annoying.

Please gog.com NEVER FOLLOW IN STEAM'S FOOTSTEPS.

Yes. THIS. Make all patches manual. Especially ones where you have to adjust the files in the folders yourself and edit configuration files in notepad. NEVER do anything that makes updating games more convenient. It's so damn annoying when everything works on its own. I can't stand it.

Get the hell out of here.

Maybe it's because I am old and I been playing video games for decades I prefer to download each versions of patches manually from the video game development companies or any video game developers websites.

gog.com stands for being DRM FREE, auto-updates to patches like Steam and GoG Galaxy are DRM in a form.

You want gog.com to turn into a DRM client? Thank god GoG Galaxy will be optional.
I just did a poo.

Is it relevant? - Only if you did one too!

You children these days have no patience. Back in my day you had to mail the disk though the snow, up a hill, backwards in the snow if you wanted yourself a dang patch!

I remember those days and I miss those days, minus the mailing the disc through the snow, up a hill.

Please tell me I am not the only person who misses those day?

No, not that kind of patch! The kind where you take one of those hard floppy disks and hope to hades you don't pass by a magnet!

It used to anyway.

But that doesn't mean that they can't figure out better ways to deliver content. Being opposed to other methods is just stubbornness, not preserving values.
