GOG GALAXY gets a new batch of features to customize your experience with the client and add some quality of life improvements.

After testing the customization of the "Recent" view on the experimental branch and applying the needed fixes, we're rolling out the feature to all GOG GALAXY users. What's it all about? Now you can add or remove widgets on the "Recent" view and move them around to your liking, and create a completely personalized experience that is tailor-fit for you.

That's not all that the Proteus update introduces to the client. For better accessibility we have placed your GOG Games Wishlist on the left sidebar, so you can keep it closer to your heart. Thanks to a separate tab listing all owned DLCs, it’s now easier to find, filter out and manage the additional content. You'll find the DLCs tab in the game's configuration window. Last but not least, we've introduced a “Check for updates“ button under the cogwheel icon, so you can check if GOG GALAXY is up to date.

The Proteus update is now available for all GOG GALAXY users – go check it out and let us know what you think.
Yeah I got the failure to load my library thing too. Trying to uninstall and reinstall…
Hmm got the library error too and fixed it by deleting the database file. Also had to reimport the games manually, but Galaxy did not update all games and two of them had an updatefile-size of 0.0MB. Tags and Bookmarks weren't affected

With that out of the way, thanks for the update gog ! Great to see that Galaxy finally gets some much needed attention again.

short term wish:

I would like to see some Columns back in the "New in library" section (like the raring), the ability to hide coulms (like Genre) and the ability to set the number of shown rows.

long term wish:
the ability to configure the game page:
-layout in two columns, rearrangable horizontally and vertically
- new element: gog-Links (to store page and specific game forum)
- new element game forum (show 3-4 entries of the latest games forum)
- new element: game features
- new element: Video / preview picture with size option (small / normal / large
- new element: user links: list of links the user can edit him/herself (like links for walktroughs n stuff)
failed to load game database

not again *sighs*

shouldnt there be some kind of testing ?
gog allready killed Sacred 2 with the latest patch :(
I opened the GOG Galaxy client, looked for the update all over in the settings and such, didn't see anything about updates anywhere, started reading this topic, around 10 minutes after I opened the Galaxy client I got a update notification, clicked on update now, got error message about failed update.
I don't like the idea of having to uninstall then reinstall everything all over again. Is there a way to update the GOG Galaxy client that doesn't require reinstalling everything from scratch?

You don't need to reinstall your games, just rescan where you installed.

GOG Galaxy devs just a tiny question?

Are you information resistent or just incompetent? Since the first day Galaxy 2 even started as testversion it IS NOT POSSIBLE TO TAG AND/OR HIDE per platform. I have told you in several tickets, requests and here in the forum yet you constantly ignore it as if it would not be a BIG FAT BUG even a programmer beginner would be able ti fix.

Please spare me new updates until you aren't able to do things right!

Not going to lie I am kinda pissed right now, I have the database error as well, galaxy now has to scan and import the game files again, that's about 90 games I have installed and modified that I have to re-check and see whether or not my mods are broken or not... the scanning and download process is sooo slow as well

Prey needs to download 22gb... wtf... I havent touched modded that game at all why is it downloading it again.

Fork it, I will leave galaxy to do its thing overnight then spend my weekend fixing things.. Lesson learned... will be careful with future updates.

Thanks galaxy.... -_-
First issue I ever had with GOG Galaxy and I consider it a really bad one. Seems the game Cyberpunk 2077 that I bought
through GOG is no longer installed. I tried to reinstall only to have it fail. Took extra steps to uninstall my mod manager for the game and attempting a new installation. It had better work or they will get a very nasty e-mail from me. This kind of pushing programming with out making sure it works is getting extremely annoying! Seriously disgusted with this issue right now since the game will not uninstall or install at all now. Great job with Proteus update too GOG Galaxy idiots.

That's the error I'm seeing for Galactic Civilizations. My Cyberpunk install seems fine. So it varies by user which game(s) it happens to.
Failed to load game database

The update was seamless on my end but "Deals" above "Games" is bad. Very, very bad.

well, at least you can deactivate it via settings
Galaxy won't start after the update. Error message: Failed to load game database.
After closing all processes and restarting, I have the same error. Completely broken.
Reinstall from the web also fails: It says it is already installed. It does no check if the installation might me corrupt.

Here is the fix and i will make a new post too for anyone whos update broke... also GOGdevs you need to seriously pull this update, this was not ready for primetime!

https://www.reddit.com/r/gog/comments/uchr73/psa_galaxy_20_broken_update_fix_for_those_of_you/
With Galaxy Closed, in "C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage\" delete (AND SOLELY DELETE) the "galaxy-2.0.db" file.

This is the fix!

You will have to wait for Galaxy to re-import your library...

And you will have to re-scan your installed games...

BUT, it should preserve all of your bookmarks, bookmark page configs & tags, but you will have to manually re-configure your "Notifications" and your default game install & download folders in "Installing, updating" in Galaxy settings.
