I am in the same boat here.. Just got back home, Galaxy auto-updated and here we go 'Failed to load database' ..

GOG .. are you the latest company that goes cheap on QA, requiring devs to test their builds themselves as everybody does lately ?

DetouR6734: As others have said deleting the storage folder here:

C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage

(copy and paste it in rather than manually trying to find the folder)

worked for me, be sure to goto the Task Manager first and make sure to end any GOG Galaxy exes/services, then delete the folder.

Rorkus: I am always a bit anxious about deleting folders so I renamed it to "C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\[DeleteThis]storage"

Upon launching GOG Galaxy after renaming the folder it took about 5 minutes to import all of the information but it does not recognise that games are installed and I am not looking forward to having to manually do that.

Update was just yesterday, so same old BS
Click the cog in the top left>add games & friends > then click scan folders for GOG games.

Might take a little while depending on how many are installed.

I renamed the folder by calling it storage1. GOG finally opened. I then closed GOG, renamed it storage, and it merged both folders together. GOG opened and started importing my old settings and lists. Everything is fine now.
My Gog Galaxy is on my D drive, and there is no Pragram Data flder on either my C or D drives. My path to galaxy looks like this:

D:\GOGGalaxy and then 15 subfolders and maybe 2 dz files.

There is no "storage" folder/directory indicated.

How d I get this thing to work?????
Ok, at least it looks like they haven't screwed up the db file. Or not the part I care about - I'm still able to open it up with my "GOG Suggester" tool https://sparrowbrain.github.io/GOG-Galaxy-Suggester/

In other news, installed Playnite... Looks pretty dope, and it looks like I could contribute to it if I need changes, since it's not abandoned the way GOG Galaxy integrations are...
Clearly I'm a fu***ng moron. Months ago I lost all the personalization on my GOG Galaxy.

That day I promised myself never update Gog Galaxy had it works fine.

I have failed to myself. 26th april update and now the bitching "Failed to load game database".

If I delete the storage folder, probably I'm going to lose my tweaks, tags and alternate executables again.

CD Projekt/GOG you messed it again.

Please, dont put Cyberpunk people working on GOG Galaxy.

It's a hidden folder. You need to tell windows to show hidden folders in order to access it.

Same. I decided to bite the bullet, so to speak, and delete the storage folder and start over. It took me over an hour to get all of my games with special executables set up again. And I had a bunch of games that weren't part of Steam or any other integration that had to be linked again. Ugh, what a headache.

They better fix this quick BC I can't even delete the file as there is no GOG storage file in my program files. I spent ungodly amounts of money on games there and I refuse to lose all my progress by deleting the whole damn thing. I knew I shouldn't have installed that update. Well, I guess I'ma have to manually install my games in the meantime if that's even possible that is.

Edit: I have it to where it shows hidden folders BTW and storage is still not there.

Hello!

I've got so far as to rename storage and let the gog galaxy client generate a new copy of the database... How do i merge both folders? i tried bringing back the etags.db and galaxy-2.0.db but it got me into the failed to load game database error again
MASSIVELY PO'd over this disaster...

Nothing worked. Finding and deleting the storage file...didnt work.
uninstall-reinstall...didnt work
rename and reinstall, scan in game files....worked, wont launch a game..didnt work
finally get everything deleted, reinstall...wont scn anything because delted file ws too big for the trash can, total wipe.

reinstall ea game, 1 by 1. Realize my Morrowind install, with its 84+ mods...gone.

EDIT: No launcher shortcut...uninstall to reinstall again...

it auto installs on my C drive. I DO NOT WANT IT ON MY OS DRIVE, but it present NO oppty for me to designate the D drive.

Did GOG just remove itself from my life?

ChaosBahamut: ProgramData, not Program Files.
I figured it out. It wasn't showing unless I search it within the files.

For me I renamed the folder then when GOG created a new one instead of just merging, I copied and pasted the files from the renamed folder and it seemed to work after I scanned the directory through GOG Galaxy but I just fixed it so there could be a few hitches. I hope this helps.

I do seriously wonder HOW this went past QA though, for sure.
FINALLY...got it all uninstalled...did a search thru my DL folder and found my old GOG Galaxy 2.0 DL...ran that, installed it to my D drive. STILL lose all the mods and installed, saved games but.....

Seriously GOG...how the fuck did this get past testing for release?
