Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

Chamb: Thanks for looking into my suggestions and sharing your observations. We will keep investigating it on our end, and share any finds as soon as possible.
Thanks.
avatar
skeletonbow: I presume your suggestion #2 above is to forcibly flush the cache due to the changing URL. The problem occurs totally randomly and when it does it survives page reloads including with the cache flushed for a number of reloads and then randomly switches back to CA_USD_en at some point.
avatar
telemetrik: Does this cookie switch happen just by sitting and refreshing frontpage? Or does it switch after you do checkout?
Either. If I keep hitting reload when the wrong US_USD_en price is showing, then after some random number of reloads the page will eventually load the correct CA_USD_en price (cookies matching in both cases), at which point it is most likely to keep the correct price for some time, but if I keep reloading it over and over again, within anywhere from minutes to a half hour or more it will eventually show the wrong price again. When it shows the wrong price, anywhere from one reload might fix it to many in a row might not fix it, and likewise if the right price is showing, one reload might show the wrong price or it might take many. In the case of the last big sale promotions it showed the right price in one place and the wrong price in another place. I don't know the state of the cookie in that case as it was prior to finding out about the cookie to know to look for it unfortunately.

On the checkout side of things, if I put the game in the cart and go to the checkout and choose paypal and attempt to complete the order it has magically changed the price to the proper price 3 out of 3 times that I was able to test, which isn't conclusive, but it has been consistent so far in that limited testing. When it did this, the cookie indicated CA_USD_en again with the correct price in the cart.

This is just anecdotal, but it seems that if I haven't viewed the website for a few hours and decide to visit that it feels like I'm more likely to get the wrong price either from the start or after a few reloads, but if I purposefully try to reproduce the issue it might take me many dozens of reloads over 10-20 minutes or more to get it to happen, then it usually shows the wrong price for a few minutes/reloads and goes back to the right price again. Whenever I've examined the cookie, it has been reflective of the price being shown.

Hope this helps.

anothername: Manual Update broken?

After starting Galaxy a few minutes ago it updated itself (which is fine) and then auto-updated "Galactic Civilizations 3" which I previously set up to manual update and actually still is set to manual only. Other games did not auto updated (correctly so, I set all listed to manual only).
Can you do the following for us:

1. Set GalCiv III to "Manual Update" if isn't already.
2. When Galaxy updates itself again, please check if "Manual Update" is still checked and if it isn't, please post all of your Galaxy logs on our mantis.

Perhaps the logs will show what happens during the Galaxy update process and GalCiv III. I am not 100% sure on this but it's a better theory than nothing :)

tomba4: Will the download speed mess ever get sorted out? I remember it's been like that from the beginning. I check every couple of months, but it's still basically broken :(

Download speed with GOG Galaxy: 0.4-0.6 MB/s
Downloading directly: 30-35 MB/s

Seriously, what the....
avatar
Destro: Few questions:
- Do you experience such slow download speeds for multiple games or do you test this issue on on specific product? Can you tell us a bit more here so we can try to replicate it?
Multiple games. Back on weekend it was on Europa universalis 2, just now on Empire earth. Interesting to note is that extras are downloaded quickly, but not the games. Which now got me thinking, see below.

avatar
Destro: - What is your OS, version and which Galaxy version are you running?
Windows 10 x64, GOG Galaxy 1.1.5.

avatar
Destro: - Do you have some antivirus / firewall apps running on your OS? Can you whitelist Galaxy Client in them?
Yes, ESET Smart Security. Bingo? Disabling firewall had no effect, but disabling real time protection did: from 0.0-1.0 MB/s the speed went to 0.0-20.0 MB/s. It't still very unstable (especially visible when 1 connection is configured, goes from 0 to 3 MB/s back and forth), but much better than before.

Note: there's no app whitelist in ESET, I had to add "download" extension to the file types excluded from real time scan.
Note2: the problem is not visible in my regular download manager (IDM), with that one GOG downloads are ultra quick and stable with only 8 connections.
Note3: I just switched Galaxy's download dir from HDD to SSD and now I get stable ~30 MB/s.
Note4: maybe someone will find this information useful :)

Thanks a lot for the help.
Destro,

I think you said before that the client checks for game updates every 15 min, could you also force the client to check once right after startup? I got on Galaxy for a min to look at something, and almost forgot that Door Kickers updated today and the blue dot never fired until I clicked on the game because I assume 15 min hadn't past.

EDIT: Well damn, the game fails to update anyway. Galaxy says "GAME NOT SUPPORTED" when I try to update it. Sigh, and Galaxy was doing so well recently. But I'm getting errors much more often now.

Ok, will do.

The weird part was that the game did not set it self to "automatic". It just updated itself; I was even looking at the configuration set to manual while it updated.

I still ask for a "manual update per default" feature in the general options. Since Galaxy automatically adds games that have not installed with it and there have been games that are problematic when updated with galaxy (http://www.gog.com/forum/rebel_galaxy/note_regarding_updating_to_version_103) its not just a luxury feature.

Thanks. Will try again soon then. :)
This GOG Galaxy is awesome, I haven't checked my GOG games for months because I only have older games on GOG and everything new on steam. I didn't know there was a client available, I'm looking forward to what you guys make of it because if it is easy to use as steam then I would likely buy games over here if its cheaper. I know GOG games can be cheaper then Steam even now but I continue with Steam because it's got an easy to use client.

I hope this client ends up becoming something just as good.
It is super slow on downloading!

I have a 50 meg DL/UL business circuit and this downloads like a snail.

Can anything be done to fix that?

Check this post please: http://www.gog.com/forum/general/gog_galaxy_beta_2/post3093
Are there any plans to improve game version detection? Since downloading patches separatly is generally faster than updating games through Galaxy I usually go that route instead of using the update function. But there's a problem: most of the time Galaxy fails to notice that the game has been updated, even if you go through import/verify.
I apologize if this has been answered already, but I couldn't think of a relevant search string that would find the answer for me.

Symptoms: GOG Galaxy opens and loads a list of my installed games. Clicking on an installed game shows the background image and the buttons "Play" and "More", with a spinner underneath. Clicking on any game in my library that's not installed shows a spinning icon over the left button, the "More" button, a "NOT COMPATIBLE" text and a spinning icon underneath. Shortcut icons next to installed games show only sporadically (two of 20 installed games). Browser works fine. Trying to install a game from the drop-down menu in the library instead of the game page shows a pop-up with a spinning icon, the Cancel button and a disabled Continue button. After a while the pop-up disappears with a "Server problem" message.

As a result, I cannot install any games or view any game info/stats for installed games. Importing games works; afterwards games are automatically updated.

System info: I'm running Windows 8.1 with all important updates (selectively blocking all updates pertaining to Win 10). Avast antivirus only. Windows Firewall enabled, programs GalaxyClient and GalaxyClientService whitelisted. ISP is UPC Ireland. I uninstalled and reinstalled GOG Galaxy.

Can't think of doing anything else; any ideas?
