== BUG REPORTING ==

Please use: http://mantis.gog.com and include
1. steps to reproduce the bug (if possible)
2. screenshot or movie showing the bug (if possible)
3. Galaxy Client logs (see below)

Where can I find Galaxy logs on my computer?
On Windows 7 or later: C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\Galaxy\Logs
On Mac OS X: /Users/Shared/GOG.com/Galaxy/Logs

== FEATURE SUGGESTIONS ==

Please use: http://www.gog.com/wishlist/galaxy. For feature suggestions and votes on them please try do explain how Galaxy and its users will really benefit from it.

== IMPORT ALREADY INSTALLED GAMES TO GALAXY ==

1. For GOG games installed using installers from the last few months (so called Galaxy-compatible installers)
Click the Galaxy logo button on top of the sidebar and select "scan and import folders" - it will find all compatible games within that folder and add them to the Client.

2. For remaining GOG game INSTALLATIONS
Find the game in the Library (click on the image of the game), then click the More button and select "Manage Installation" -> "Import folder" and point the folder selector into the folder where that game is installed.

== KNOWN ISSUES ==
- throttling max download speed is not yet possible
- notifications related to incoming chat messages and friend requests does not always disappear instantly when consumed and may require reloading Store page
- games imported from existing installations will auto-update once, even if updating is disabled
- Moving Galaxy from /Applications on Mac OS X will stop the app from working
- Galaxy cannot be launched by other users on the same computer

For everyone who has a problem with missing api-ms-crt dlls in Client's versions post 1.1.5:
Please install one of those windows update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2999226 https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3118401
You may need to update Windows to meet the requirements for these:
For Windows 8.1 and for Windows Server 2012: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2919355
For Windows 7 and for Windows Server 2008 R2: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976932

You can also try reinstalling Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributables 2015 (x86) if you meet above requirements.
Available here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48145

If above instructions doesn't work for you, create a separate issue on mantis.gog.com and we'll try to help you individually.

Please note that this solution only helps with the missing api-ms-crt dlls.

========================================================================================

Answering this question: Why 1.1 doesn't work after updating to 1.2?

This is happening probably due to incompatible database from version 1.2, please delete this folder:
%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\GOG.com\Galaxy\storage
usually
C:\ProgramData\GOG.com\storage\

Then you'll have to use scan&import (menu under the top Galaxy logo) function to see your games back in Galaxy Client.

Chamb: Hi there,

I’m really sorry to hear you have troubles using our platform and understand your irritation, especially since the issues are connected to prices. I know it’s not a big consolation, but rest assured that the problem is not a widespread thing (to my knowledge we had few reports about it so far).

Unfortunately we didn’t have any luck with repro of the issues you are talking about, which makes it hard to debug, but nevertheless we will try to help you and solve it one way or another. We will need a bit more info from you though.

1. Please monitor contents of the gog_lc cookie every time you see the prices change. For you it should always be CA_USD_en.
2. Try adding different parameters to the url (like for example gog.com/?=1; gog.com/?=2) and see if each time you enter the page with new parameter you get the same price. Currently the correct price for Hearts of Stone i Canada is $7.99 before discount, and $7.19 after the discount.
3. Check the prices on the checkout screen. After you enter the checkout screen you should see the same prices as on the frontpage. Please select PayPal as you payment option, click on the „pay for your order now” and tell me what happened - if you were redirected to PayPal or the checkout screen refreshed and prices changed for you.
4. If you didn’t already try using incognito window in Chrome, private browsing in Firefox or equivalent of these in other browsers.
5. Tell me if the problem is connected to each and every game on GOG.com? Or to some specific titles? List every game you stumble upon having this issue.

Again sorry to hear about your issues, and let’s hope we can resolve them together. :)

Take care!
Ok, I'll do what I can to see if I can find out what's different including the things you suggested above. I just did a bunch of reloads and kept getting the right price, switched to another window and back and the wrong price was there as I closed the window... undo close tab and it is fixed... just missed one... Will keep trying though, normally they just show up so I dunno how hard it is to force it to show up wrong but we'll see...

It happens with Witcher 3 and the expansion every single day, and I notice that because that game is always front and center. I did notice it previously with other games too but I don't remember which ones they were. What normally happens is that I have the GOG homepage up and I'm away from the computer for a while or doing something else, I come back and automatically hit F5 to reload and the page comes up the same, but if a price changes sometimes my eye is drawn to the change. If I don't notice that happen though then I am unlikely to know a price even changed unless I mentally know one price from previously. That's what makes it hard for just about anyone to notice is that if you only see one price on the screen and have no basis of comparison then you are unlikely to know the prices are even changing at all.

I did just check the gog_lc cookie while the correct price was showing and it was CA_USD_en as you suggest. I'll keep poking around with that and your other suggestions, thanks.

BKGaming: Okay so when I stopped playing last night, I believe it was around 30 min played. I waited a good 5 min or more and the time never updated when I quit. Logged in this morning and the time was over 50 min. So I'm wondering if it is updating but taking an extremely long time for the client to update the time. Not sure, but I generated some fresh logs. Time when started was 56 min. Played for about 5 min or more, and then quit. Time was still at 56 min after waiting another 5 or more min for Galaxy to update it.

http://mantis.gog.com/view.php?id=3724

EDIT: That seems to be the issue, left Galaxy open and probably 10 min later it finally updated the time. Seems to be taking a long time for it to update. Which is not typical, usually it updates right after I leave the game. Takes no more than a min, or less.

So it it updating, just not very quickly. And since I only leave Galaxy open when I play a game, I must be closing it before it gets a chance to update since it's taking a good 5-10 min to do so.
avatar
omega64: It is, I've had the same issue before. Had to wait 10 minutes or so for it to update.
Yea and sometimes it still doesn't update after leaving it for me. Most of the time if I wait 10+ min it will but a few times, I waited and waited and nothing ever changed as far as play time. Defiantly needs to be looked into, because something isn't working right with it.

Followup to my last post. I just got the wrong price up again and checked and the gog_lc cookie is set to US_USD_en. The IP addresses I'm connected to are:
https://www.gog.com23.222.74.173
https://images-1.gog.com192.229.163.146

My IP address is the same Canadian ISP one as always (left out for privacy, you can pull it from webserver logs if need be)..

I presume your suggestion #2 above is to forcibly flush the cache due to the changing URL. The problem occurs totally randomly and when it does it survives page reloads including with the cache flushed for a number of reloads and then randomly switches back to CA_USD_en at some point.

There's nothing I can purposefully do to trigger the problem other than to reload over and over and over and over again, sometimes it happens in a minute, sometimes it might reload 100 times and not show when I'm trying to make it happen. So if you guys reload the page in a test environment 5 times or whatever it wont likely show up. Running it from within GOG HQ might also circumvent whatever is causing the problem, unless you have a way to test the site through a proxy in Canada or whatnot.

I've put Hearts of stone in the cart and it shows $9.99 regular discounted to $8.99, the gog_lc is US_USD_en and Paypal malfunctioned and redirected me back to GOG without showing up. Now the GOG site has reverted to CA_USD_en and showing the right prices again. I'll have to try this again next time it pops up with the wrong price again.

Additional info: This was in Firefox 43beta6/64bit for Win7/x64 although as mentioned before this problem occurs in all versions of all web browsers tested, just including the info to help you in webserver log files or whatnot. I was using a normal window and not Private Mode this time. Once I get more data on the normal window mode I'll then try on Private mode also. I'll try all this in Chrome later on as time permits as well. Also, while this has happened with different games in the past, I'm noticing it specifically just with The Witcher 3 and its expansion currently, but that doesn't mean it isn't happening with other games, just that I'm not noticing.

When I have more free time I will set up a video grab of my desktop and reload the page a bunch and see if I can spot other games changing prices. Presumably it will only be games which have different prices depending on your locale however. Perhaps MaGog can help me find out what games might be affected so I know what to look for. It'd be awesome if other customers had time to spare to reload pages a zillion times too to try and reproduce this obscure problem though too. I've tried to get other friends who reproduced it to debug and they just couldn't be bothered. I think that is reflective of the average person's general sentiment toward such things though so I'm on my own for now along with you guys. :)

This isn't really a Galaxy issue, but the price thing made me think of it. The site also randomly ends up the wrong language for me sometimes. I'm the US, and so is my IP... but I've gotten languages other than English. Lucky for me I knew how to change it even though it wasn't in English.
This is just a general usage post for Galaxy.

I really do try to use Galaxy when interfacing with my GOG games. Not playing them, but keeping tabs on them. I have yet to keep up with my games or add new games through Galaxy.

1) Most recently, I just purchased the Star Trek bundle that was on sale (4 games in all). I went through Galaxy to purchase the game. Nothing downloaded. No new games showing in my library. I waited about 5 minutes and still nothing. Refreshed the page. Nothing. So I open my browser (Pale Moon) and head to my library. 4 new games listed in my library. So I download from the browser, not Galaxy. What is the point of Galaxy again?

This has happened the last few times I have tried purchasing games through Galaxy.

2) Ongoing issue, not just Galaxy, but game updates in general.
Why do I get Mac updates listed for my PC games? I see in my library tab I have X number of game updates. I go to the games and have no clue what is updated, just that there are updates. So I go to each individual game and check the changelogs. Mac update each and every time. Why? I do not own, nor will EVER own a mac. My games are NOT Mac games, but PC games. Can you please make an adjustment on your side that does NOT tell me about Mac updates, both in general AND in Galaxy?

So far, my experience with Galaxy has been nothing but a pain, NOT the ease that I believe you folks intended with the software. Why do I even have it on my PC? What does it do that I can not get do better, faster, and easier through your website?

I should mention that I do not keep excess programs running on my PC that serve no purpose. This includes Galaxy, Steam, Origin, and that crap. Can you tell me why I even want Galaxy on my PC?

Nope. It's only happen few times, but it has happen.
Will the download speed mess ever get sorted out? I remember it's been like that from the beginning. I check every couple of months, but it's still basically broken :(

Download speed with GOG Galaxy: 0.4-0.6 MB/s
Downloading directly: 30-35 MB/s

Few questions:
- Do you experience such slow download speeds for multiple games or do you test this issue on on specific product? Can you tell us a bit more here so we can try to replicate it?
- What is your OS, version and which Galaxy version are you running?
- Do you have some antivirus / firewall apps running on your OS? Can you whitelist Galaxy Client in them?
- How many download threads do you have set up in Settings for Galaxy? Does altering this number (increasing it to 10 / decreasing to 1) and restarting Galaxy make any difference for download speed?

Generally, we do monitor our cdn logs and I can assure you that for Galaxy downloads there is no global issue with Client download speeds, with the exception of maybe a few games with 10k+ files (Client operates on unpacked files) where indeed downloads can be slower - although not by a factor 50-100x. I personally have quite fast connection and I can easily achieve 25-30 MB/s in Galaxy for any given game as well...

If whitelisting and tinkering with download threads makes no difference for you, I suggest clearing up logs (see pinned post on top where to find logs), replicating the slow download issue on your end and then submitting newly created logs to our mantis bug-tracker (again, see top post for details).

I don't know if this will help the devs, but...
I must say that when I was on a DSL connection the speeds were just HORRIBLE, let's not say when I was from a hotel Wi-Fi (but then the connection was just bad entirely).

Now I'm on a 300Mbps fiber connection and downloads trough Galaxy are just perfect.
30-35MBs/s as it should.
Manual Update broken?

After starting Galaxy a few minutes ago it updated itself (which is fine) and then auto-updated "Galactic Civilizations 3" which I previously set up to manual update and actually still is set to manual only. Other games did not auto updated (correctly so, I set all listed to manual only).

Hello,

I realize that Galaxy is in beta and there are more important things to do at the moment but will we be able to disable (and reset maybe) achievements and "time-spent-in-game-thingy" (since it optional)?

P.S. Overall, I quite like new client, keep it up, guys!

Does this cookie switch happen just by sitting and refreshing frontpage? Or does it switch after you do checkout?
