bler144: Yog denied me permission to edit the prior comment. I intended the joke, but didn't mean for it to sound so mean. I meant specifically "no one in the game" and not a comment on RL.

Hopefully it was taken as a joke and no psychic harm was caused. Sorry for the lack of care in wording!
Joke to Guilt in under 13 minutes. Even less, considering he had to have an exchange with Yog before the apology post. I'm impressed!

It was an instantaneous recognition as I hit 'Post.' Had to wait for the timer to expire or risk eating the mod-kill, which I almost did. I've been right there when someone I knew well and worked with was on the verge of suicide, and it's brutal.

Aside from the mental health issues in my own life I've worked tangential to that field in the past, and may again soon. I generally try to be funny without being a jerk or causing actual harm.

Like the recent giveaway thread where someone asked "What's the weirdest thing you've ever eaten?" The cheap, but obvious, joke was "Your mom." But I couldn't quite go there. Couldn't go there there. I'll go there here since that OP is presumably not following Mafia.

This is unacceptable! I shall see you on the morrow, sirrah. My honour shall be restored.
Anyway, back to game. We seem to have a variety of options, including:

1) Randomly throw FoS.
2) Analyze wagon data
3) Talk about night actions (as CSP already has)
4) Claim
5) Discuss game design aka Complain about the moderator

I don't think we can do #3 without ending up with some claims falling out of that. Whether claims make it harder or easier to talk about anything else, who knows. But it does seem that all the night action discussion in D2 spiraled to an unfortunate end.

As an aside, it was hard to to do D2 without being aware of Trent's post in the administration thread. I was torn, but also aware the post was something I shouldn't have known in-game. So in weighing whether he was town or scum I had to try and pretend I wasn't aware of something I was. Which was impossible.

FWIW, if he's still reading personally I don't think he should feel responsible. He absolutely did not sink town. I don't know that I'll play again either, and probably wouldn't have played this one without Yog's encouragement, but D2 in my view was a collective failure of town making a mountain of a molehill and being unwilling to think outside said molehill, which I found frustrating. But I'll save further discussion of D1/D2 strategy for post-game.
Sorry, Joe... I hope you understand.

Here we are then.

And more importantly here I am. Alive and well. Not unexpected but still.

My answer to bler's question as to why am I not the NK is basically the obvious one - most likely for WIFOM and potentially a free lynch. That is probably the answer to the question why flub. Flub started to go along the way about me potentially preparing a defense for Today and blaming Trent at which I retorted. In my eyes the NK got someone on who we didn't have too much data, had a "quarrel" with me and had his brain read. Now that we know he was Town we can pretty safely assume he didn't lie about the brain. So scum knew someone had information on him, potentially alignment or power. If that someone was not also scum they probably didn't want a "confirmed" player around either. Or if they were the brain pickers they might have not liked his role or whatever they found about him and decided to take him out. All of this put together makes quite a decent target with potential bonuses.

So, first things first. Elephant in the room. Myself. Is there any suspicion around my claim and Joe flipping Town after all? Will we go in that direction or will we proceed with other things?

In addition, I visited someone last night and I have a read that provides some connections around. But I'm not sure if I'm supposed to share that. For starters I'll let my target to decide whether or not they want to come out and share what they did.

Other than that nothing special happened to me last night that I know of.

Personally I'd say hold off on night actions at least for the moment. Maybe whomever you visited will surprise you.

I don't have any suspicion on you for Trent, per se. And I think you make a good observation that Flub's flip potentially throws FoS both on you and whoever visited him N1. So it's a double-win from that perspective.

That said, from a game design viewpoint, Flub flipping as town Role Blocker gives me at least some hesitation about the balance of also having a town tracker. It was easier to explain a bunch of cops running around since to some extent they cancel each other out, but having both a town Role Blocker and a town Tracker (who could each catch the NK action) seems more unbalanced to me.

[insert complaint about terrible mod]
I'll go back on my prior post a bit - let's do a partial claim of received night actions just pertaining to role blocks/sleep effects.

Flub's 'Thief' class fits with the dart, so the safe assumption is that he slept Leonard on N1. I think we can safely collect info on who was slept, and might as well find out if anyone else in addition was roleblocked or suffered a similar effect.

In terms of tracking/cops though let's hold back for the moment, since I think that will spiral out pretty quickly into a mass claim. Which may be where we end up before too long, but may as well not be overly hasty to open the barn door.

I have a question for you first. What made you hammer with such haste? And why did you take the executive decision the discussion was over?

dedoporno: I have a question for you first. What made you hammer with such haste?
Good question. I'll answer that in full once we get to the claim part.

The not-quite-complete version though, is that in my view the only viable town-friendly alternatives were no lynch or mass claim. And those were both, needless to say, unpopular. Moving to another target and getting an additional claim a) didn't seem very likely, and b) would arguably have been worse still.

I'll also quibble that the hammer wasn't really done in "haste" considering he first moved to L-1 and I talked you into stepping off the brink. 24 hours before that. It wasn't like JMich's vote was our first move to the brink, and in 24 hours no viable alternative presented. Yes, I could have let it drag on, but still don't have any sense doing so would have been productive.

I don't perceive that I derailed movement in some other direction, like the late move to lynch Flub on D1 that was constrained by the deadline. The collective conclusion seemed more than foregone to me when JMich brought us back to the brink.

Do you think I cut short some other option? I'd be curious to hear.

I have no idea. Maybe, maybe not. But I felt we weren't exactly done talking and was kind of expecting to agree we are ready before call it a day. Also, and I'll have to go back and check since I can't remember what happened there, weren't we waiting for HijacK, too?

By hasty I mean that there were like less than 2 hours (maybe even 1, but no way to check that now) between Jmich's vote and the hammer.

I was actually secretly hoping that some flash vote(s) appears out of the blue from hungry scumbags so if Trent actually flips Town we can look into that. I just didn't expect it to come from the person who talked me into stepping down for more time :)

1) Hijack's absence was brought up in 565-567. He posted in 584. I don't recall any specific requests for any other voices. There were several open-ended "Should we discuss anything else?" questions, but everyone seemed to be content to let someone else make the effort.
2) It was more like 15 minutes. For which Yog was grateful, as an irrelevant aside.
3) Maybe, but I doubt it. I'd pressed hard enough against the wagon with unpopular alternatives that if he had flipped scum I would have been in big trouble today.

But by and large the big issue is I think the conversation had shifted from alternatives to dead-horse beating and foot-dragging.
Apologies for my inactivity, guys. Alas, I am not fully moved in in my dorm and things are picking up. I still have a buttload of activities and girls to check out and impress, but at leas I can resume playing. Once again apologies for the inconvenience.

In any case, during the night I think I was role blocked. Someone threw blew dart in my neck (not sure if the neck part means anything). So yeah. Catching up now from the morning post.

Fair enough :)

Interesting. If this is true it seemes Flub wasn't the only blocker around. It also makes me think the dart is of scum origins - we are unlikely to have more than one blocker.

Why would you assume that? Flub was the NK, but we don't have an action priority order.

I would tend to guess the NK was the last action to take effect and that the dart is consistent with Flub hitting him, though as you may suspect I can't prove that. I would tend to conclude that, if true, Hijack's claim indicates he wasn't the killer, whether or not he's scum in some other capacity.

I was very tempted to say "I didn't have one visit last night" just to watch a few peoples' heads explode, but it would have been technically true.
Welp, never mind! Unless there are more roleblockers around, it seems the one targeting me is dead..... and town. Hmmmm.... dead and town. Kind of a crappy combination. Alas I am half way through catching up.
