The arguing was now proceeding at a brisk pace. “I vote for you!” “I unvote you!” “I re-vote your unvote, and upvote you!” It was craziness. Chaos and pandemonium. Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies! Rivers and seas boiling! Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria!

Well, possibly not, but at least it was getting interesting.

All of a sudden, a booming voice filled the cavern.

“This is yogsloth! I am projecting my projection into this project to make an important announcement! I have desperate need of one of you elsewhere. I’m changing things up a bit. I’m recalling one of you, but sending you a replacement. I’m sure he’ll be more than capable of filling in.”

And with that, a dazzling light surrounded Sage. It shimmered for a bit and made appropriately whooozy and whiiiiizy noises, and then POOF! Sage vanished. Oddly enough, not her clothes or armor, just her person… and in her place, clad in her gear, appeared RWarehall.

“Ah, er. Hi everybody! I’ve been sent here to OH GREAT BLOODY HUMMUS, what is that SMELL?” the new arrival bellowed. “Good God, it smells like someone ran over a cow with a lawnmower and set it on fire in here!”

There was a general nod of agreement amongst the group.

“You’ll get used to it eventually,” said bler, utterly lying.

“Here, try these,” offered CPSVG, handing RWarehall a moist pile of rabbit droppings.

“Uh. Thanks, I think I’ll pass on… hang on a minute…” RWarehall glanced down at what he was wearing. He flexed his legs in the warrior princess miniskirt, and paused to rap his knuckles on the steel brassiere. “Well that’s… unexpected.”

Hijack shrugged. “I’d still hit it.”

Moderator’s Note:

Sage has asked to be replaced due to RL issues. Let’s all wish her well, and hope she gets back into the next game! We’re going to miss her. I’m certainly going to miss writing her flavor. :) I’ve asked her to pop into the game thread when she has a chance, and I’ve sent her the link to the observer thread.

Thanks Sage – we’ll see you in the next one!

Sorry life is so hectic right now for you Sage, I hope things get better for you soon!

Welcome RWarehall, but may I ask why are you interlocking your hand with Hijacks?!?!
Apologies for not being around yesterday, but it was a hectic day. I shall catch back up today after I return from some banks.

Non-game related, but I would like to add thanks to Sage as well. I've appreciated the support from everyone, and she was particularly supportive last game for me when I needed it most.

Hugs, best wishes, and GL with your own transition and challenges, and hopefully we'll see you back here for the next game refreshed and rejuvenated!

flubbucket: I am pretty cute. It's my button nose. Would you care to elaborate on your vote for me, or is it based on little more than me bringing up the possibility of a Jester role? If so, why not vote for HijacK for bringing up cults (even though that was in a different context, as far as I can remember)?

Like I said, you brought up Jester so I voted for you. What else could I possibly have at this juncture this is nothing more than conjecture or speculation??

So: lynching someone, yes. Lynching just anyone, no! We always should try to get more than just the flip out of a lynch. We should at least try to make our lynch hit a right target, or at least a target, whose loss doesn't damage town too much. Otherwise we won't win. But I think we agree on this anyhow. We only have to come to an agreement, who that 'most likely right' or 'least damaging to town' target is.

That aside: I hope your RL improves soon!
I will give you some credit for not appearing as myopic as Bookwyrm627.

At work. Phones suck. Expect something more useful in 8 hours.
You guys have no idea how hard it is for me to leave the game. I talked it over with yogs and filled him in and everything that has been going on and told him to give me 24 more hours to try to get RL dealt with and read over the thread and catch up. I could not meet my own goal. =( I also could not stay in the game as it would not be fair to my fellow players. You should not be playing the game a person short because of me.

I do want to touch briefly on what is going on in my life. It is not all my new job but wow is it a good portion of it. It seemed to look like a bit of a slow down as the inventory is getting online and the cars are being moved to the lot. A older family member had a stoke on Sunday. At first they said it was nothing short of a miracle and she was bouncing back and surprising her Drs. Then Tuesday it seemed she took a turn for the worse. Now it is a battle we are taking one step at a time everyday.
On top of this another (distant thankfully cause she is nuts) family member - let's call Blers Ex's twin - Is going psycho after baby daddy dumped her and child protective services are involved. As they should be as both of them should have been fixed and never allowed to have kids. She has decided that since she is the victim and everyone else is out to get here as she could never do wrong nor that he own actions are the reason for thing that she is going to make life hell for anyone she sees as the reason for her issues. I would be one of those as I have not hidden my disdain for her actions and issues.

Basically it seems that when it rains it pours. But I felt I should explain what has been going on and why I did not have the chance to be online and reading and postng and then I did have a few minutes here and there I just would read the same post over and over and over and not understand it at all.

Again I am very sorry/ I actually cried when I sent yogs my message that I might have to bow out. Though I am sticking to my story of dirt in my eye. =)

Lifthrasil: Yes. I did miss that post and couldn't reply to it right away due to the stupid 10-min rule. Yes, if we were in a situation where one has no way to distinguish the scumminess or townieness of anyone, it would be OK to lynch anyone. But such a situation is very unlikely, since all talking on Day one will lead to some opinions forming. So the scenario where it is OK to lynch anyone randomly is academic. You explained your motivation well, however, even if I don't agree with it.

So I am willing to cut you some slack, especially since we aren't on a deadline yet and I don't want to risk a speed-lynch.

unvote adaliabooks

I'm looking forward to your reveal. But depending on what it is, how towny or scummy it sounds and on whether a deadline appears, I might put back my vote on you later.
I don't see how it's that unlikely... that's basically the situation at the start of the game. It's unlikely to last very long, but that was the way the game was at the start of the day and in that moment any player was a viable lynch. Hence we needed something to get us talking.

Thanks for the unvote :)

Jeesh, that is a lot at once. :(

I'm actually crossing my fingers for you and for me - if we can get through the next month here without CPS being called, we might just make it through as a cohesive, reasonably healthy family who just needs counseling, but if CPS gets called tomorrow it could be majorly bad for everyone.

Besides, as adalia hints at, within a week or two there may well be more people in the observer thread than here ;) Just focus on what you need for now and we'll see you next time around!

Game-wise there's really not much for me to add. Looking forward to what RW (welcome!) will bring to the table, plus we're waiting on Adalia's big secret, and it wouldn't hurt to hear from Leonard, who has been quiet the last two days, aside from vaguely noting that his vote on adalia at some point and for some unspecified reason shifted from RVS to intended vote.
So, things aren't looking too good for my continued existence.
It's probably cards on the table time, not that there is any big secret here, just an explanation of my motives and what I think I've gained from the whole thing.

First, I'd like to say that I fully stand by my statements (as originally made) about just placing votes randomly (based on whatever gut feeling you'd like to go on) and seeing what happens, and about every death being good for town. I get the feeling that I'm flogging a dead horse though and can't convince anyone else this is the case. Never mind, that's no longer important.

Second, I will freely admit that I'm ridiculously inconsistent. I'm amazed I agree with myself sometimes, by the time I've finished typing a sentence I disagree with it sometimes. It's who I am and it's not likely to change, so if you all continue to play mafia with me you may just have to chalk it up to a quirk of my personality / playstyle like flub's eccentricity or CSPVG's lurking. Or just lynch me for it again and again, it's up to you.

Seeing that the game wasn't going anywhere and nothing much was going on I decided we needed something to get us going. So I put forward my slightly controversial theory, thinking that people would either go along and we'd have a lynch, or more likely, that people would pile on me.
Last game I played I suddenly realised who the scum were because they made the mistake of piling on to me, and knowing I was town and their reaction was disproportionate to what I had said or done (can't remember what it was now) it was obvious. So I thought, lets see if I can repeat the experience by giving scum an easy target to pile on to and push for a lynch and see what I can learn. So knowing that I had a viewpoint which was likely to incite such a reaction, I went for it.

So let's look at my wagon:
Leonard, Lift, Trent, JMich, Dedo

Leonard - Pretty damn suspicious, but not a huge amount to go on. Let's his RVS vote turn into a real one and justifies it with a few posts along the lines of "Killing is good for town? WTF?". Not a firm read here, but I'd say leaning scum.

Lift - Town. I've never played with him when he was scum, so I don't know what that looks like, but he's coming across as very much like he has in previous games. Other than Leonard's 'RVS' vote he was first on the wagon, and he voted as soon as he seemed to really find my arguments and behaviour odd. Which is the town thing to do.

Trent - It looks like trent and dedo doubled teamed me. Dedo mentions my use of 'killing' twice and trent happily chimes in with a 'good catch!'. Also notable is the lack of the usual jokey "Are you scum dedo?" routine, although dedo did it anyway with bler. It looks like an attempt at intentional distancing to me. He then goes on to misinterpret my original idea (with some help from dedo) as lets just kill any old person (which, if you paid attention, wasn't really the plan). He goes on to call me out for voting flub instead of someone I found more scummy, goes into more detail about why he dislikes it but doesn't vote until someone else (Lift) has already done so. This looks particularly scummy, if he disliked my suggestion so much why not just vote? He's never been afraid to in the past. My problem with trent is, while I think he is really scummy, I also have to take into account that he does tend to do this a lot (this being jumping on any slightly scummy slip, blowing it out of proportion and then ignoring anything else). Gut tells me that he's scum though, plus the double act with dedo really makes me suspicious. The two of them were the driving force in getting my wagon built.

JMich - JMich comes across much more like town JMich, I can't say I'm surprised he voted for me as we do tend to clash over my overly generalised statements and inconsistencies. Under the circumstances I find his vote consistent with town play. He's been quiet, but he always seems to be day 1.

Dedo - Placed a second vote on me during RVS, he later said this was a mistake and he hadn't released I had a vote on me, but I wonder if that wasn't strictly true. Particularly as the other vote was Leonard's, if the two are scum together it might have been an attempt to subtly build a wagon, but it's also possibly a little obvious. He double teams up on me with trent over some small issues and then swoops in at the end (with a convenient vote in between trent's and his) to vote with the excuse that boils down to "This is what adalia wants anyway" (which is apparently the big problem with my plan in the first place). He then pulls his vote to prevent a speed lynch, after Lift had already done so and it was no longer necessary, with a caveat left in to say that he was basically going to vote me again anyway. dedo's ringing major scum bells for me, he behaved exactly as I would have expected scum to given the nice target I presented.

Other player's to watch:

HijacK – He seems to have been a little quiet this game. This might just be real life or maybe after sitting the last game out he's mellowed slightly, but I'm surprised he wasn't more vigorous in attacking me over my idea. He has expressed that he doesn't think it's the best plan, but there's none of the usual behaviour I might have expected from him, and no vote on me. I'd say somewhere between keep an eye on him and leaning scum.

CSPVG – The 'let's all give scum lists' within the first few pages of the game was a bit odd, but I didn't find that too suspicious. There is certainly an element of meta in my suspicion, in that he seems to be behaving more like he did when he was scum in the STALKER game. He seems to over react slightly to me mentioning him in my original idea post, which made me suspicious. He then responds to me and Bookwyrm voting flub by saying he finds him a but suspicious but that he's not willing to vote, seems a little like he's preparing an argument to jump on the wagon if it gained traction later. He also twice mentions something about not being comfortable answering HijacK's question... but I can't find any question that HijacK asked him... I'd put him as slightly leaning scum.

Everyone else is varying degrees of leaning town or neutral. I won't say which players I find particularly firm town as I think that just puts a target on their backs to NK.

So that's it, not much really, but I'm fairly confident at least one of Leonard, trent and dedo are scum, if not two. I won't vote quite yet, let's see how this all goes down first...

This is what I get for trying to be nice. Lift's post was not there when I wrote mine (I sent it few minutes later since we were getting ready to head for the concert), but feel free to not believe me if you wish.

Since my vote removal came out as redundant and L-3 is still far enough I can put it back where it was until the promised reveal is presented.

@RWarehall - welcome back!
Once again I post without refreshing first, but oh well...

@Adalia, you seem to be quite certain you have figured a bunch of the scum out including myself. And now that your cards are on the table there is no reason to hold back. How come you haven't voted for one of the people in your scum list?

I never got the hang of baiting people in a good in order to get beneficial results that bring more reward than the involved risk so I'm not a fan of such plays (doesn't necessarily mean it's a bad play in general, it's just me not liking it). Last game Wyrm did it and I was baffled at how bravely he gambled and threw his role down the drain. I don't want to know what you have to lose and if anything but the outcome in terms of gained "knowledge" doesn't cover the potential risk taken given that I know for a fact one of your strongest "reads" is false. Last game Wyrm gambled and practically threw away a power role (I believe he didn't know he was gimped doctor, so that makes it worse) in a similar way and I'm not sure why someone would go for the same approach knowing how that worked for the first time. I mean, you say you are very like-minded but the first thing that comes to my mind is Vaas Montenegro's defition of insanity.

But for what is worth I do share a feeling about one person on your list, just a feeling based on nothing game related yet, so we'll have to see.

I will keep my vote where it is for the time being.

adaliabooks: Trent - It looks like trent and dedo doubled teamed me. Dedo mentions my use of 'killing' twice and trent happily chimes in with a 'good catch!'. .
So why exactly would I ask Dedo if he was scum if Bler had already jokingly called him scum and Dedo had posted his meme? Was there some need for me to go there after that? Me not doing so makes me looks scummy now, sure that makes sense.

Me also acknowledging I missed it when you said killing was good for town and telling Dedo it was a good catch makes me scummy also I see. So I will be sure to not tell anyone I agree with them on pointing out something that might be scummy, don't want people to actually post anything they find off as that might prompt discussion. We wouldn't want that now would we, and since I do it must mean I'm scum. That makes sense too I suppose.

So I voted for you in post 247, and I'm guessing you just saw the vote and failed to read the post. I was answering Bookwyrm in the post and as I noted at the end before I voted for you "Since I've started this post I see adalibooks has finally replied and I still don't like his reasoning", meaning I was waiting on you to respond to my questioning before I decided if I needed to vote for you or not. Since I still did not like your reasoning and voted you I see this makes me scum too.

In all your ramblings I also find it interesting that you are admitting you made a scummy slip, yet I'm scum for calling you on it. Go ahead and twist this one to say that's not what you meant when you said I jump on any slightly scummy slip and blow it out of proportion. If I am jumping on a scummy slip that means you made one as I have said does it not?

What have I blown out of proportion exactly? The fact that according to you all that matters for town is killing and getting info from the possible flip?

So to surmise your post on me, I'm scum for not asking Dedo if he was scum at the beginning, for telling Dedo good catch on finding something that might be scummy, for not voting for you immediately and instead giving you time to respond, for questioning you on a scummy slip, and for blowing it all out of proportion.

I will keep my vote where it is for the time being.
For the reasons previously mentioned, when I voted flub I had only gut instinct to go on, neither you nor trent had voted for me yet, Leonard hadn't sidled on to the wagon by confirming his RVS vote was now real.

I certainly suspected you or trent (or both) might be scum when I voted flub, but why over play my hand?

I seriously doubt anyone else would have believed it, certainly not in the midst of me having a wagon built on me, that would just look like distraction, but with a wagon built and stalled and people waiting for an explanation (plus it might be the last chance I get to put forward one) I have nothing left to lose by sharing what I feel I have gained.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not infallible by any means and I'm not expecting everyone to immediately just vote for one of my picks, just to consider the evidence, particularly if my lynch goes ahead in light of me flipping town what that means.

And if it's all a load of rubbish and I'm completely wrong and get lynched anyway? Guess what! Town gets my flip, day 1 is over and the game can begin properly. Mission accomplished.
I said right from the start that my flip was probably worth much more to town than my input as a player is likely to be. As for my role, well I'll reveal that if everyone wants, but I'd rather not because I'd rather I wasn't going to be lynched and it wasn't necessary.

As for my read being wrong... well you would say that. And as for voting, I thought I might as well see where the land lies before I throw a vote out, if anyone is interested in a wagon on any of you, trent or Leonard then I will join them. If no one is interested I'm probably getting lynched anyway, so my vote is immaterial.
