tinyE: If that includes Goat Simulator than I'm totally cool with that.

omega64: Nope, only the serious Simulator's.
I haven't heard of Serious Simulator, much less a series of such games. Would you care to indulge me?

Themken: Das geht gar nicht [that will not do] because I am too bad at German.

Crackpot.756: Fear not; so are many Germans. No one will notice.
Same here i can understand most of it but speaking and writing it is a nother thing.

I think this is a fun joke btw, cause why would GOG or anyone tells turn German?
It would be better imho if the whole world turned Britisch, that would be jolly good fun.
Anyway i watched tons of Britisch series on tv in the past and i enjoyed them all, i like that Britisch humor, and be honest Merkel isn't funny at all, i mean look at that face..... it's a face that looks like it has a burnout, to much stress, or god knows hat else, i cant understand people vote for something like that.

Best thing is would be Britain will leave EU (unfortunately i give them a very small chance but their is always ).
If they do you will get a snowball effect , google for it there are lots of funny pictures about it.
But like i said i fear they wont make it, so they stay (fixed or not by the EU or in camp) and then the shit will hit the fan.

It is quite serious.
Obviously includes titles like Serious Sam and Barbie Horse Adventure.

Geddes17: @tinyE: Well, it has been said many times before, but it's still true: GOG could simply put up a working age verification system (like so many other internet shops) and then everybody would be happy ...
Can you give me such an example? The only verification system I'm aware of is when the postman asks to see your id before handing you your package, which I somehow doubt would work for a digital distributor. Or is it something similar to that, meaning you get a verification from the local post office (or equivalent) and have them verify you to GOG?
And I am not sure if GOG could legally ask you for a copy of your id before selling you stuff, since that would be a whole different can of worms.

tinyE: They can't fix the fucking rep system and we expect them to challenge German law? :P
avatar
PaterAlf: I like you tinyE, but you should inform yourself about German laws. It's perfectly legal to sell these games here in Germany. And there is a lot of stuff publishers and shops like GOG could do if they want to avoid regional locking (e.g. optional age verification for German users). But they are lazy and not really interested and simply blame German laws which is neither fair nor completely true.
I think Germany is a laugh and a very very big one... they dont allow the commandos game i heard, its so sad that even 70 years later they are still frustrated for the things they done, i guess they will never get that out of their systems, which is kinda sad.
So 20 games are to be 'blocked' in Germany? which games besides the existing commando's games?

JMich: Can you give me such an example?
Postident or Giropay-Id are the most obvious choices. GOG already uses Giropay as a payment processor.

And those do work similar to what I expected? You present those with your id, and they give you an authorization token, so to speak, which declares you of legal age?
Yes, something like that could possibly work, since GOG would still remain ignorant of your identity, only the fact that you are of legal age would be presented to them.

Thank you.

JMich:
Basically, yes. GOG would only get a confirmation that you are old enough.

The huge difference is the way that you present your id. The first one has two choices: You can either visit a post office and let them check your id, or you can do the same thing via webcam. The second one let's your bank confirm your id.

Edit: Removed full quote.

To add to what mk47at said: Postident is the method you need if you want to open a new bank account online in Germany - so if this method is good enough for banks then I think it should be good enough for GOG as well ...

PaterAlf: Just relax, Max. Learn to use a VPN and everything will be fine.
Would you trust a VPN with your payment details?

Save your card, tell GOG to use the token. Also use 2FA and check your email from outside the vpn.
Or better yet, use a VPN you've set up yourself instead of a public/commercial one.

Shouldn't be a problem when you use Paysafecard. And could anything happen when you use the stored token?

Maxvorstadt: Today, at 3 o`clock pm, GoG will abandon all forums which are not in german and it will from then on only use geman language, have only german support and only german versions of games worldwide.
Angela Merkel will speak live on Twitch to celebrate the german conquest of GoG.
Stay tuned and Hail Merkel!
:-)
