I'm not sure if Hotline Miami and Commandos region locks, with less than a day between the announcements was a good idea on GOG part...
As for the changes, absurda lex, sed lex.

of course I'd have to convince him of the efficacy and the non-addictive properties first, he is of the old school

I did once although I was way over 18. :D
Well, somebody has to do it!
Do Australia and Germany have a lot of censored games? The worst countries for games and gamers?

Here. Greece banned all videogames (in public places) in 2002. It was never enforced though, as far as I can tell...

EDIT: It was enforced but has been suspended, actually.

In case of Germany, let's see:

Turok 1 - Robots instead of humans (in the jungle!)
Carmageddon - Zombies with green blood instead of humans with red blood
Unreal Tournament 2003/2004 - Removed separation of body parts, removed all blood, removed rag doll physics
Doom 1 - (formerly) Banned
Doom 2 - (formerly) Banned
Quake 1 - (formerly) Banned
Quake 3 Arena - Banned
Wolfenstein 3D - No swastikas and no blood
Return to Castle Wolfenstein - same as in Wolfenstein 3D
Jedi Knight 1+2 - No separation of body parts via lightsaber
Fallout 1+2 - No gory deaths, no children in-game
Fallout 3 - No blood, no gore at all, the slow motion death scenes stayed and are slow motion "falling asleep" scenes

do I have to go on?
I could do this all day.

Germany is with violence what USA is with boobs and porn.

If publishers and shops would understand the german laws correctly and not use Wikipedia like Square Enix did as example. The situation for german gamers would be a lot better!
In fact there is no censorship in Germany only a lot of people who don't understand this. Except of child- and youthporn nothing is banned in Germany. German adults are free to decide by the law what games, music, movies or books they buy (import), own and sell. Selling is a bit complicated as it can get restricted when the media is indexed or even worse sales restricted by a court but it is still allowed.

As you can see above my post people tend to mix banned and indexed none of the games mentioned above was every banned some are still indexed but you can compare indexed with porn in other countries (available only for adults, no commercial and public selling (it is allowed anyway but you have to ask for the game) in places minors have access, adult stores aren't affected by this)
Wolfenstein 3D is sales restricted by a court which basically limits the selling from private person to private person or shop to single person (shop has to order it).

Well, yes with "banned" people (including me) usually mean "indexed", but I think there were some forbidden games too, "Manhunt" maybe?

You don't like my question, or is it too loaded for you?

Manhunt 1 (Playstation 2 US Version) and 2 (Playstation 2 EU Version, PSP EU Version and Wii EU Version) are sales restricted by a court, any other version is only indexed.

As said import, buying and owning is allowed anyway. Sales are restricted but nothing is forbidden except commercials.

Right, I forgot about that, because most Germans ignore the censored versions as far as possible and try to get the real thing.

So this is the point, where Wikipedia does actual damage.

But OTOH, once gamers get the "fact" into Wikipedia, that nothing is banned anymore, it's the truth, isn't it? ;-)

Most Germans play Garbage Collection Simulator 2015 or crap like that on PC. That's the reality, just look at the top ten sale charts. And they buy those games on disc, because broadband coverage is worse than rural Romania.

Oh dear, sometimes it's good to have gotten a little out of touch with normal people. ;)
The impression I told is more than a decade old by now.
