Fairly new to GOG but anyone that's been around longer notice games on weekend/regular sales go for 85 percent off. Most games go on sale for 60 percent. Not bad but 85 percent is cool. Or would you say 85 percent is a bigger sale thing?
Fairly typical. Don't remember seeing a "Everything is 85% off" sale, though the PWYW sale I suppose could fit that description. They normally have a mix of discount levels for any particular sale, which is fine. 60%, 85%, 25%... it's all good.
Interplay sales usually go down on a "Everything is 90% off" :)

I knew a girl who did that.

Stupid bug not letting me post. Page issue, maybe...?
Oh, and now it's not letting me make replies. Meh, forget it. I'll do it later when it's playing nicely.

75% is the norm with an occasional 80%.

85% and 90% off have tended to be somewhat rare occurrences although more common in the "Buy the Whole Developer Catalog" bundles.

I usually jump at 80% and am picky and buy quality games at 75%. 85% and 90% are rare enough, I don't wait for it.

Basically what RWarehall said above me sounds pretty much accurate. Normal promos go for up to 75% usually maybe with the odd game or whatever above that, or things like the Interplay promo as an exception. The bigger discounts tend to be in the seasonal promos and other big promos but rarely otherwise, and they are usually bound to bundles where you have to buy every game in the bundle that you don't already own in order to get the mega discount. The Back To School promo was kind of special as they gave the better discounts on individual games or smaller groups of games within a bundle. That was quite nice to see.

I generally ignore anything with less than a 75% discount unless I'm itching to play it immediately which isn't usually the case. Mainly because almost all of my buys these days are whimsical, and the impetus to make the whimsical buy is actually the discount itself.

90% would be even cooler.

Yes they do. Most of the times on the big sales in spring, summer, autumn, and winter.

Just check isthereanydeal.com for the lowest price ever on GOG for any game. It's really simple.

It also depends on the base price. 85% off a really high price might be more in the end than 60% off a rather low price to begin with. Some publishers artificially start with crazy high base prices in order to get an artificially high discount without really offering an especially good deal. Always compare absolute prices within a peer group.
